ESL One Cologne teams determined

The European ESL One Cologne Finals and Indian qualifier have finished and now all sixteen participants at the $250,000 CS:GO major on August 14-17 are known.

The top eight finishers from EMS One Katowice qualified directly to ESL One Cologne, thus originally leaving eight more spots to be filled via qualifiers in Europe, Oceania and North America.

With LGB disbanding between the events, another spot was opened up for India. In the final of the Indian qualifier, Wolf were able to defeat Virtual Impact to qualify for ESL One.

After iBUYPOWER topped the North American qualifier over weaker competition and Vox Eminor survived the field in Australia, it all came down to last weekend's European Finals.

Zeus's Na`Vi survive a rough online qualifier to make it to Cologne

First two teams to book spots in the major were dAT and London Conspiracy, who upset ESG and Natus Vincere in the upper bracket quarter-finals of the European qualifier.

Next two teams to go through were the French duo of Epsilon and Titan, who overcame Copenhagen Wolves and the Finns of encore, also in the upper bracket quarter-finals.

In the lower bracket mousesports, who earlier lost to dAT, were once again upset by Copenhagen Wolves, who went onto qualify. Finally, Na`Vi bested ESG to make it to their third major.

Poland Virtus.pro Sweden NiP Denmark dignitas India Wolf
Ukraine HellRaisers France LDLC United States compLextiy Sweden fnatic
United States iBUYPOWER Russia dAT Australia Vox Eminor France Titan
Norway London Conspiracy France Epsilon Denmark Copenhagen Wolves Ukraine Natus Vincere

The top eight finishers from EMS One Katowice will be placed in the top seeding pools for Cologne, and should thus receive easier group draws. We do not know how this affects the Indian winner.

ESL One Cologne will take place on August 14-17 at Gamescom in Germany. HLTV.org will naturally be on-site to provide you with full coverage of the $250,000 major event.

As far as I can see, HR have 3 Ukranian players, same as the usual dAT lineup with Pr1ZraK, so where's the problem?

flamie was stand-in for Pr1zrak, so dAT have 3 ukrainians, I don't know if flamie would stand-in for him at ESL One though And with HR even if you change kucher to russian there still will be 2 russians and 2 ukrainians and since ANGE1 is the captain, HR can be under ukrainian flag (though I've heard that the players wanted to be under CIS flag, right?)

Not really, hltv put flags without asking teams I think Like HR who wanted to be under CIS flag, but still they were under ukrainian flag, cause 3+ ukrainian players (before crimean stuff and kucher changing citizenship)

ltr, it means teams who spend quite a bit to come over and participate (ex : vox) once in a while, get a bit more than 1/2 grand (unless sponsored by esl). Btw - idk what happens to my nation's team, glad they get a chance atleast once a year - despite the hate.

that was indeed an excellent idea, especially how many people buy them when they go 0,25 $ and later sell them for like 10 times more, win-win situation.

No pro streamers, Australian ISP's limit upload to 1Mbit for DSL and 2Mbit for Fibre, Fibre is only in new/rich areas. 1Mbit isn't enough for CS at 720p/60fps. Also we have full time jobs and our time zone doesn't sync well with viewers.

I don't think the same way, firstly regarding the slots well India is a very big country its even bigger then whole of the Europe so separate qualifier for India is obvious on the other hand you can't have separate qualifiers for European countries there have to be combined qualifiers for Europe, secondly regarding your 16-0 prediction well they scored better then this on there very first International outing in last year's ESWC I'm pretty sure they'll show some improvement this time, so despite of having so much of hate I think should appreciate if some teams like this get there chances to perform at such level if you really love e-sports, I really don't know why people have so much hate for India?

LOĹ it has nothing to do with being racist. It is just a fact that we most likely wont see them ever again after Cologne. And I rather see a team like mouz/PD/mTw who can put up a fight against the participating teams. Also it would attract more people to the event I think.

If you want to see those teams then they will have to qualify for the event just like the rest of the teams. If they fail to do so, I honestly don't think other teams (and their circumstances) are to blame, especially not in a derogatory way. Remember it the next time. Thank you.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they were formed barely days before the qualifiers and they had no strats/teamplay at all. The players have all the necessary ingredients. All they needed was a recipe to make them a decent team.

So you'd go for a team like flipsid3 that hasn't proven ANYTHING yet in spite of how good they look on paper, but would kick Vox out who have looked extremely good of late? Also, they might not have passed the group stage in Katowice, but they did put up decent scoreline. Ease up on the bias for a bit, and see how Vox performs this time eh?

You're right that flipsid3 hasn't proven anything (quite the opposite, actually) but I don't know why you see my opinion as biased. It is quite objective, on the contrary. Team achievements : Vox : Zero. Failed to take a map against Euro teams in that Chinese tournament. Did not qualify for DHW after crashing out of BYOC tournament against a noname Euro team. Crashed out of group stage in Katowice (I can't read much into this one... Competition was stiff and even teams like Na'Vi did the same). F3 : Zero. New team. Haven't been to a LAN yet. Played ONE official match where they got destroyed. But it was online and the team was barely a week old, so can't read too much into that either. Individual achievements : Vox : None of them have ever beaten a tier 2 or better EU team. F3 : MODDII and Schneider have won international majors, twist has placed in top4 in a few international tournaments. Pyth and cENTRYZ have been a part of teams that have beaten top tier teams. The argument that people use for Vox's invite (like you just did as well) is that "we should give them a chance". I say why not give flipsid3 a chance and see what they can do on LAN instead? How many chances is it going to take before we realize that the Vox E slot is better off for an EU team. Either ways, this isn't something we can change now. What's done is done and it's disappointing as an unbiased/neutral viewer. The only reason Australia and India have a slot is that ESL wants viewership from those countries. There is no merit involved in these decisions.

They're taking it slow. I expect they'll add more slots in the next few years in other markets. At the very least, there will be an asian slot added.

Well so according to you always EU and NA teams should play CS:GO and rest should not be allowed anywhere? If you won't allow teams from other countries how will you expect them to be at the level at which EU and NA teams already are? You say ESL included these teams just to increase viewership, well so do you think if there was no slot from India and Australia gamers from these countries would not have watched? Then you'r thinking totally wrong brother just scroll down at any post on this HLTV.ORG forum and you'll find many comments from India and Australia this itself is proof that it dosen't matters if ESL give these countries slot or not but gamers will still watch it so clearly this was not the moto of ESL it was just to promote E-Sports in other countries as well I'm sure in future tournaments we'll see more countries being added in the list and I will totally appreciate it

According to me, only the best of the best should compete for the major titles, irrespective of where they are from. I can support inviting random teams from across the globe for small tournaments like g3, DH valencia, GameGune and so on. And as for viewership, indian HLTV.org commentators are a small part of the scene. Hardcore fans will watch regardless, but If you think that the same number of viewers will watch irrespective of an Indian team participating or not, then I see no point of trying to explain this to you. Indian viewership will be several folds higher with an Indian team competing. And with ESL having just expanded to india, they would be looking to get a lot more visibility (and subsequently paid members of their service).

I don't quite understand which part of #283 you found to be ignorant. If you have any specific posts in the conversation that you deem as ignorant, feel free to elaborate on that. Also since you are (presumably) from Vox, I want you to know that I have no hate/negativity towards your team. As a matter of fact, I was rooting for Vox to do well at DHW BYOC last year. My problem is with the qualification/invitation format for the tournament. DHW was nearly perfect in this regard. An on-site LAN qualifier prior to the main tournament is definitely the way to go. That ensures that teams go into a tournament purely based on pure merit, not selective merit (i.e. merit in a small geography).

I agree the choice of words was poor/misleading but I assure you that I am as aware as you about it being a qualifier slot. Irrespective of which team made it out of Australian qualifiers, the rationale is exactly the same.

To make csgo more "international" valve should organize asian qualifiers on lan (i know cost is high blah blah) and keep everything else as it is. 6 from europe + the last top 8

Team X gets a free-win versus Wolf. So, definitely easier and not fair at all.

vox, LC, dat and Wolf should actually be easy meat for any set of other 3 teams that you put with them, but yes, Wolf would be easier than the others.

You haven't been following the latest matches right? LC and dat played REALLY well in the qualifier. At the last major event vox took 13 rounds of LDLC. Wolf is the only weak team that will be at the tournament.

I saw both the matches live. LC and dat played well but it's rather unfair to expect them to start being a threat to top 10 teams on LAN purely based on a couple of online results.

Dont worry, India will never get a slot again. ESWC is to promote the game and give participation to all regions. ESL ONE like events are supposed to be for the elite. BLAME LGB. LGB disband caused all this :|

i mean, Wolf was qualified via INDIA (lvl high++) qual, so they didnt played against one of those teams. aswell for VE. for daT, there is some trouble with flamie. so yeah, for the glory days of counter strike, i'd prefer watching ENCORE+mousesports+ESG instead of these teams, that i still respect. it will be more interesting for the viewers to watch mousesports/encore/esg than the three qualified. just my2cent -fat -angry +gf +life ggwp btw dunno why u're so rude, when i didnt even made one sentence.

Your parents said the same when you entered this world. :( I personally think its good that csgo is going global. ESL is not stupid to just give one slot to a random country, ofcourse they have something in for them as well. Its a win-win situation. Gl wolf and vox.

I still find it hilarious that Wolf got a spot to ESL Cologne. Don't get me wrong on this, I don't hate the team or anything. But you should probably create a LAN on India or whatever and have teams compete there, Wolf will get demolished in no time. They have a chance of 1/10000000000000 to actually even beat a team.
