ESL One Cologne casters revealed

The Electronic Sports League has announced the names of the casters for $250,000 major in Cologne next week.

ESL One Cologne will run from August 14-17 under the wings of Gamescom, with 16 teams from all over the world battling it out for a piece of the community-funded $250,000 prize purse.

The show will be hosted by ESL's Head of Commentary, Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner, together with Scott "SirScoots" Smith, with Richard Lewis coming in as analyst.

Anders and Semmler to cast ESL One Cologne

RoomOnFire duo Anders Blume and Auguste "Semmler" Massonnat will join ESL's Lauren "Pansy" Scott and Stuart "TosspoT" Saw as commentators.

The casting lineup for ESL One Cologne looks as follows:

Redeye probably will be co-hosting many games. SC2, cs, blablabla. Which means he may not have time to do any of the commentaries. Or maybe I'm wrong. But it's still exciting to hear him and Tosspot co-cast a match. It would be the most intense one ever.

he was just a dick towards polish people basically. on the unfiltered talkshow with him, destiny & chainmanV when discussing ticket prices to ems Katowice he said the tickets were 'quite cheap' and the event will be sold out because 'what the fuck else is going on in poland'. he also went on to compare them to Africa in not being part of the developed world and that they were one of the worst countries

great lineup. we have: -the best casting duo with anders & semmler -the best host in redeye -great co-host and analyst with scoots & lewis -great supporting casters with tosspot and pansy only problem is that there isn't a color commentator. could have done with lurpiss or henryG im so fucking pumped for this tho :D

If the ESL ends up using players for color commentating/analysis again due to a lack of appropriate personnel, I sure hope they pay them money for their work. Oh, and another ironical side of the matter: Richard Lewis helped massively, whether intentionally or not, to push out Thorin as an analyst from Katowice and effectively all ESL-hosted events. Now he took his spot at the follow-up event as an analyst. That's the guy who regularly takes moral high ground to the "big boys" in the industry that screw over guys like him that supposedly are better at the job but less career-oriented and more controversial characters in the scene. Well well...

Need more experienced CS players like HenryG who understand the game, there is a problem with casters relaying false info to the viewers which doesn't make sense. I know a lot of people who end up muting the stream because what the casters are saying the teams should do etc is just wrong.

WHY ESL COLOGNE WONT BE THE THE BEST TOURNAMENTS SO FAR: 1)Maps.Most of the teams wont be able to show their best because of the map rotation + the new veto system.Also what is worse:Most of us(the observers) have not really seen this maps.Even if some have played several MM/mixes on them,they are quite unknown for us and we dont know what to expect,which position is good or bad and etc. 2)Casters.Anders and Semmler are a nice duo,although they are doing some mistakes(E.G. Whenever i hear Semmler shouting i think zonic returned and made another 1v5,but actually someone has got 1-2 random eco kills.Also i am tired to hear HOW BAD THE MONEYSITUATION IS,especially after losing the pistol round.Even the most retarded part of the observers already is aware of the moneysystem in csgo. Also pansy is not really suitable for cs go casting.I dont have anything against her,but she does not look the perfect choice.I doubt that many of the observers will benefit from her.She simple does not have the skill to cast a major.Let her cast EPS german online quals if you want,but please...I dont want to see her at the final at least. From another hand tosspot is really awesome caster,but he wont abe to save the situation i think.Hopefully some of the pro players would able to join the crew,so at least we can see some good knowledge about cs go. tosspot has been around for ages and has casted multiple games in addition to 1.6. He casted walle's 1v5 ace against Pentagram at WCG 2006 - a play just as famous for its commentary as for walle's brilliant play. And yes Polish fanboys, I know Pentagram still raped NiP that match, lol.

Casting lineup is fine you guys whine about trivial shit way too much. Analyst co-casters will be available whenever teams drop out of the tournament (starting on day 1) - some of the players will volunteer just like at Katowice.

Too many play-by-play commentators and no color commentators... Alright! The two hosts, ReDeYe and SirScoots, are very nice. I don't think there are any two better people you can have for this job. Analyst is Richard Lewis... Thorin is the best man for this job, he knows CS inside-out and seemed to have ditched that Laker jersey, which irritated me. (kek) As for the commentators, I would do -pansy -semmler. Keep Anders and Tosspot, those are the best play-by-play commentators you can have (excl. Joe Miller but he casts LoL). I'd add Lurrpis as color commentator and add throughout the event some players from teams in aswell (NBK, maybe?). If workload goes too high, you can let ReDeYe cast as play-by-play and thorin as color commentator. And after the game maybe let do SirScoots and interview with a player.

I do not hate any of them but I can't stand hearing false things about teams or players. Granted they all are not in love with CS but they should do their homework before the event. I'm not saying that they shouldn't do any mistakes or action ingame but if you are paid for it, you should do your best. As a viewer, I wanna see casters who are able to; - The main roles of the players in teams - Which map is their best map? - What are their tendencies? Are they aggressive or passive? - Is the team methodical or they mostly rush with guns blazing? The list goes on. They don't have to know everything I want ofc but those are my general expectations from them.

clearly when you're asking someone who's in the top of line analysts , lurppis and thorin come to mind . Whatever issues they have with ESL , ESL needs to sort it out for the good of the community watching these tournaments . This is one of the greatest counter-strike tournaments in the year and these people deserve to be here because they are good. Forget about their egos or personalities , they actually deliver great insights and content throughout without too much bashing on other people aka they are on professional level when the stream is live. On another note one of the best casting lineups for a major tournament was and still is DHW13 .

I think redeye is by far the best commentator here. Not due to how he explains the game etc, just by his excitement in his voice. He can actually make any round be exciting when he's commentating seriously. Listen to the actual action and compare ( youtube.com/watch?v=Moxfh_Or6IY) Meanwhile, I think Anders, and obviously semmler is one of the reason why CS:GO became this big as it finally became. But it's not intresting to listen to if you know the game by yourself, listen to how he actually ignores the action and trying to analyse the game for the "beginners" ( youtube.com/watch?v=i24XdFr08p8) This is in my opinion ofcourse, the best commantator I've ever heard in CS:GO clip ever. Tobiwan, I dont give a fuck that he can't pronounce the name or know too much about the game but he makes the ENTIRE round exciting. Just shows how experienced a caster redeye is. His commentating is a perfect balance of when a caster should tone it down, be quiet and let some suspense build up. And then, when it's time, you go full yolo cast. Really sends a shiver down your back if it's done right. And Tobiwan is great at making the rounds exciting as you said. I also thinks his accent make it sound a bit funny, but in a really good way. :D Like the "HUUUUGE clutch" just sounds much better when he says it, than if semmler said it for example.
