LDLC release team

The LDLC organization has officially dispensed of the services of the team, after its trio Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian and Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez accepted an offer from Titan.

Rumours have been going around the scene considering all three French teams for the past week, as VaKarM.net informed that the LDLC trio Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Hovik "KQLY" Tovmassian and Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez would be joining Titan.

The team has now naturally fallen apart despite their top four finish at ESL One Cologne and a close semi-final with NiP, after they've been gradually showing better results over the last few months.

LDLC lineup has fallen apart despite a 3rd-4th placing at ESL One

It has already been confirmed by Titan only moments ago after LDLC and its manager Stéphan Euthine released a statement, showing their disappointment at the players' behavior, as the trio left without consulting the organization about their contracts' renewal:

"We are reeling from this incomprehensible decision by our players who we have supported so much. Another offer seduced three of our players even before LDLC tried to renegotiate the terms of the next season's contracts." said LDLC's manager Stéphan Euthine in the statement at LDLC.com.

"While the future seemed full of promise of partnerships with companies that would have allowed us to ramp up, we now have to face this choice that paralyzes us. We once again find that the French scene shows a lack of maturity on the job of a pro gamer."

This particular lineup has been representing LDLC's colours since early February and has a top eight finish from EMS One Katowice, top four from Copenhagen Games 2014 and ESL One Cologne and a gold medal from DreamHack Valencia to their name.

How is it backstabbing? They got offered more money in another team so they took it. LDLC should have paid their players what they deserved. Going off LDLC's statement they are saying "oh yeah we got new sponsers so we were about to renegotiate the player contracts and offer them more money.." which is total bullshit. If anything LDLC's management are the ones who lack maturity. Trying to blame the maturity level of gamers for this move... its obviously nothing personal, just business. Dont cry about it when you're not paying the people who actually make the brand lucrative.

+1 Most orgs post some bs when players leave. If your players left for a better org, it's your own fault that you suck. The fact they come out and blame the gamers shows their lack of maturity.

good points is there a possibility that apex & co got the new offer and didn't even go to the organization that DID support them and give them an opportunity to match or better the offer? the statement from the organization is totally unprofessional, and if they're like that in all facets of their business then you could understand their reasoning for leaving however id like to know more on weather they just kind of snaked away or if there were back and fourth negotiations and the players just made a decision that was best for them

Leaving is not what makes them backstabbers, but rather that they left without discussing it first with their manager. LDLC's management wasn't only paying them, they were investing in their success. It just seems immature and borderline unprofessional/unfriendly to leave in such a manner.

Whats there to discuss if they want to leave? Maybe they were tired of all the internal bs that none of us hear about and decided to move on. Only the players and management know why a contract extension wasnt discussed. Think about it.. if everything was great in the LDLC camp and the players were being treated what they considered fair, isnt it strange that they wouldnt bother to discuss a counter-offer with LDLC after they received something from Titan? When you have 2 parties vying for your services it naturally increases your worth. LDLC was/is trying to build a brand name on the backs of the players. They were paying for a service which was mutually beneficial to both parties. I dont see why people are thinking that the players just took free money and then just left. One could argue that the players did more for LDLC than LDLC did for the players.

"Paid their players what they deserved" - And they did. They weren't top performing over the last year, so they shouldn't expect high end pay either. They were doing a lot better again recently, and I agree they should have consulted with their teammates and the organisation about a contract renewal with better pay. This was just a clear backstab.

United States much how?
They were a top10 team easily, and in the last few months they were breaking into the top5. Why shouldnt they expect 'high end' pay? No-one gets NiP money but these guys were clearly one of the worlds best CSGO teams. Clearly not a backstab since their contracts were finished and they were free agents to do as they please.

What?? He is talking about MATURITY, not the fact that they were grabing an opportunity. he specifically said that they were not consulted. Thats the real lack of maturity. OFC that since they were offered a better contract, they would go for it. At least they should pay some respect by hearing LDLC contract proposition. Even if they already made up their minds.

Why would they renegotiate with LDLC if they dont want to be there? How is that immature? They respected LDLC enough to fulfill their contract, when that ran out they chose to leave LDLC and move to another organization. How is any of that immature? Its actually quite the opposite. You have to get it into your brain that they dont want to be there. Whatever problems have gone inside LDLC is big enough for them not to want to stay there. You have no idea of the politics that goes on in professional organizations. What you might think looks good on the outside, it could be and most likely is completely different when you are on the inside and see all the goings on within that organization.

I didnt say they wanted to renegotiate. I just said that ldlc team should'v sit down and talk to the org, hearing the proposition and then say "No thanks, blablabla". As a matter of fact i do know how it goes. Its not a lot different from a job. Even with a job with low conditions, if i had a better better job offer, i would seat down with the board and explain my situation, telling them politely that i would go because etc etc. Also, its not "respecting enough to fulfill the contract", it was their obligation. I agree with your overall point. I just think that ldlc org should be contacted before, instead of getting a yellow memo saying Kthnks our job is done here. At the very least, they should have all sit down in a table, discuss all future of ldlc squad and at the end, shake hands. Just my thoughts dude :) And yeah, i dont know what was going on there so i may be completely wrong hehe

The new three french teams look scary & have huge potential but this has been the problem & issue with CS in general since the start of it all going "serious" so many years ago. Because of the general age of all the "pro" players, maturity has always been a massive issue and it has always been hard to keep a professional, business-mature standard among "kids" who do as they please.

This is one issue, how do you create an iron-clad contract for the players to sign, that when they choose to abandon ship & join another team - your then able to enforce that player from not playing in the new team or having the ability to join another team?? Its impossible without the entire gaming world enforcing these sanctions & gaming become a seriously legitimate business within the law. It goes back to the original introduction of contracts, with elemeNt signing a contract & then jumping ship to another team because he felt like it & nothing could be done.. its always been the same ;o

I don't think people should take it so personally when players leave a team. They have to put their own career first after all. LDLC would have had to get Ex6tenz and kennyS to join and also provide a gaming house and equal salaries to make it worth it for the 3 guys that left, and I guess they thought that wouldn't be possible.

They didn't break shit, they finished their contracts. The french scene seems actually pretty mature and stable. If anyone is being immature it's the LDLC org for statements like this. Also they're not a charity organization like you imply, they wouldn't have funded the players if they got nothing in return.

I never said they were a charity? They are clearly a gaming organization. Not once did I say they were a non-profit. Also, from the way it was worded, the term "renegotiate" means that there was an agreement in place. You have very poor reading comprehension skills. The French scene is not mature. They were recently stable but as a whole they're pretty unstable. GTFO

Renegotiate - To revise the terms of (a contract) so as to limit or regain excess profits gained by the contractor. Nowhere does it say to re-negotiate a contract does it have to be current. Obviously there was a contract in place that has recently expired and they have chosen not to renew with LDLC. Dont start spouting lies saying they broke contract, because that is a bullshit and untrue statement.

I really feel bad for LDLC. They seemed to really support the players only to get fucked over. And people wonder why a lot of orgs don't get involved in csgo.

it's a shame that despite esports growing and growing lately, some players can still show such a lack of respect. i have no doubt that ldlc were very supportive and helpful to their cs team and so for them to just jump ship at the first sign of a 'better offer' they do so without any remorse or regret and not even a comment from apex in his statement. tragic

I just hope the Orga stays in CS and finds a new upcoming team like the old LDLC.

I mean complexity waited to resign and now have nothing. It's like holding out too long on a job, you can end up getting nothing. It is highly unlikely the blame rests solely on either the players OR the org. Usually, when given the opportunity to act like shitbags, people will act like shitbags. On both sides.

Think I'm the only person who thinks the GM's statement is a huge over reaction. Titan and LDLC were together for years respectively and showed genuine dedication and professionalism in my eyes. People and circumstances change. That's life. The logical decision would be to stick by your man Happy and trust in his abilities to direct and lead his new team instead of bitching about 'immaturity' in the French scene whos teams' compared to just about every other team in csgo history (bar NiP) have shown longevity.

Probably the players run on contracts that are 5-6 months until they run out and they discuss renewal or letting the player go. That is why changes in rooster is so easy in eSports.

LDLC picking up team mercenary would be the best thing in this situation, I think.

where is the brain in ldlc's thinking here? you may have had a good top team, but what about the sponsors willing to jump into supporting theese names? the potential in this lineup is insane, far greater than the ldlc one on paper. stop taking yourself so royal and sign this team lol.
