Fragbite Masters with LAN & $42,000

The third season of Fragbite Masters has been announced with a 300,000 SEK (~$42,000) prize pool, as well as LAN Finals in Stockholm, Sweden with all expenses covered for travel and accommodation.

The first two seasons of Fragbite Masters saw NiP and dignitas triumph, respectively, with the second season ending back in March this year.

Now the time has come for the new and improved Season 3, which will have a purse of 300,000 SEK (~$42,000), more than double compared to 140,000 SEK in the first two seasons.

dignitas are the reigning Fragbite Masters champions

Furthermore, this season will have LAN Finals in Fragbite's studio in Stockholm, Sweden, and all travel and accommodation costs for the teams will be covered.

Other information, such as the number of teams, invites, format, prize distribution and more will be announced in the near future.

Furthermore, this season will have LAN Finals in Fragbite's studio in Stockholm, Sweden, and all travel and accommodation costs for the teams will be covered. That's awesome for mid teams but the higher teams wont like it considering they would like it to be added to the main prize.

Have you heard of such a thing as sponsorship's? Like being sponsored by a hotel chain, for example.

I dont know if this is the case, that theres hotels and transportation companies involed here, but e-sport is pretty cheap exposure considering how many people it reaches and considering how expensive traditional pr chanels is. So it wouldnt suprise me if some swedish companies from those businesses sponsor these events.

Hotel Chains, and transportation companies earn millions and are worth billions, They don't care about a local lan. These kind of companies build hospitals and fund million$ reasearchs which gives them the PR they want. They don't target 50k viewership events with a minority of swedes. Even me & you don't even know whom are the sponsors so how much recognition are they going to get really? How effective was there sponsorship? You are of course forgetting teams that might attend from CIS (Na'Vi, HR) and teams from other parts of europe that will spend much more on traveling expense.

Not every hotel chain and transportation company is worth billions and even if they are they are most likely spreading their sponsor money to reach as many and different groups as possible. Now in this case the sponsors are Com Hem, McDonalds and Estrella, all three big multi billion companies (apart from maybe estrella). Its not only a local LAN, esport is growing and this is the biggest esport site in Sweden who hosts a tournament that will get alot of spread on the web. It's something new and fresh and a cheap way to get good exposure.

McDonalds, Estrella & Com Hem target market are the youth people between age 18-30 will be interested in what they provide. Most transportation companies i know are multi-billion and hotel chains as well unless the chain is just two or three hotels spread around one specific region. Even so, these events shouldn't attract them yet again i'm speaking without information.. they could be actually sponsoring them but i find it stupid on their side to do that.

It's never been restricted to Europe only in Dota 2 or StarCraft II in previous seasons, so I don't see why NA shouldn't be allowed to attend. Although, cross-continental match-ups have mostly been played on European servers if I'm not mistaken. It would really be amazingly fun if a team with 150ms qualified for the finals. :D

I remember in the dying days of source, Dazed's old team they did a lanchamp tournament where they played against one of the UK teams at the time. Was cool to see and the pings for both teams were like ~80-100 so it was at least consistent.
2014-09-09 18:46

lol maybe an NA team of east coasters could have manageable ping, but with guys like n0thing way in socal, no chance. Maybe next season with further expansion, they can do what FACEIT is doing and have a separate NA league where 1-2 teams qualify for lan finals.
