ESWC schedule released

The ESWC organisers have released the schedule for all the tournaments that will be held at the 2014 world finals.

The French event will take place from October 30 to November 2 at the Porte de Versailles as part of the Paris Games Week event, with 24 teams from all over the world battling it out for a piece of the $50,000 prize pool in the male CS:GO tournament.

The tournament will kick off with a round-robin best-of-one group stage, with the top two sides from each of the four groups progressing to the single-elimination playoffs, which will use a best-of-three format.

dunno if I am the only one that doesn't actually expect something from group D, I mean dignitas should have this one in the bag and even though there will be probably 3 teams competing for the 2nd place, I don't actually find 3DMAX capable of upsetting. So it will be between IBUYPOWER and mousesports, and I think the NA team has a slighty edge here, because of mouz performance problems @LAN.

Agreed. Though I wouldn't be surprised if mous is able to beat iBuypower, I expect them to lose. Thats probably one of the few games I am not sure of the result.

I think that you might underestimate how iBuypower acts under pressure. What happens is that steel and/or DaZeD start yelling into the coms telling everyone to step it up. In a high pressure LAN, that could easily put some players over the edge. They've always done well at NA LANs because there wasn't a whole lot of pressure to start with. But with EU LANs, its a lot of stress for them. Also, if mous can take out Skadoodle and keep him from getting an AWP, they really only have to deal with Swag. Strats for playing vs iBuypower should really focus on taking out Swag and stopping Skadoodle from AWPing, because steel isn't a special player, DaZeD is a mediocre IGL, and AZK is a solid player, but can't do what Swag and Skadoodle can.

A - Na'Vi, Fnatic B - Cloud9, Virtus C - LDLC, NiP D - Dignitas and the really tricky one. Since it's lan, I would say iBUYPOWER/3DMAX. If 3DMAX can find the form from DH stockholm, then they'll go on. I can only see mouz go on if they get their shit together really soon.

Fnatic, Na'Vi, VP, C9, ESWC France Winner, HR, Digi, and iBP are going to be the once who have a chance. Does only one team from each group advance, or two? Because if one, there will be some awesome games at the end of the group stages.

IMO it will be impossible for Gplay to defeat Dignitas, so definitely not "everyone", but you're right that if IBP and Mousesports play poorly (which isn't that unusual for them on international LANs), then Gplay definitely have a chance. Go Gplay and NiP!

i obviously expect K1CK to beat Pow and Energy esports, but I don't think they can't make it through. it's also BO1 format, which should, if anything, motivate them even more to surprise the other 3 big teams (fnatic, navi and lc) :)

and it sucks living in the US as it always has if you wanted to watch this event at all. also, what an unsatisfying, shitty format. I'll never understand tournament organizers that put so much effort into an event, but effectively ruin half of the fun by refusing to reconsider a different tournament structure. same boring, short one as always.
