Ninjas in Pyjamas won the award for the eSports Team of the Year at the 2014 Game Awards.

The ceremony took place on Friday at the AXIS Theater in Las Vegas and it distinguished the very best of the industry, with the award for the Game of the Year going to BioWare's Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were in the running for the eSports Team of the Year award, which was determined through fan vote, and the DreamHack Winter runners-up beat League of Legends duo Samsung White and Edward Gaming, as well as Dota 2 duo Evil Geniuses and Newbee, for the honour.

NiP win Team of the Year award

NiP's Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund was nominated for the eSports Player of the Year award, which was, however, scooped by Call of Duty hot-shot Matt "NaDeSHoT" Haag.

Yes and post how many times NiP went out of the groups as well, only the beginning of 2014 was good for them towards the end they sucked, fnatic were average in the beginning and were owning in the end. 1st fragbite 1st faceit, 1st ESWC, 2nd in EMS, 1st SLTV. 3rd-4th DH Stockholm 1st ESEA. And NiP were 5th-6th in Stockholm and DH Winter was in 2013 which fnatic won.

well I don't remember who has won most of the tournaments and I won't waste my time checking. Though surely both VP and Fnatic have won at least 3 big lans this year. Also both of those teams has been way more consistent than nip. Nip has just played really well at a couple of tournaments, pretty much rest of the time they have sucked. edit point being, you can barely justify giving a csgo team of the year award to nip. But out of ALL GAMES and ALL TEAMS choosing nip is ridiculous. It would have been COMPLETELY justifiable last year, but definitely not this year

I don't know who really deserves it. I do know that no cs:go team has been consistent or dominant enough to justify the award to be given to ANY cs:go team. The whole cs:go pro scene has been a complete roller-coaster this year, no team has really done enough to deserve the award IMO. Like nip last year would have been an EXCELLENT choice, but this year I find it only a misplaced award. I'm sure out of all of the gaming genres there has been a way more successful team during this year. . Though I'm assuming the award is result based only, if it's like about fan favorites, team spirit, good manners and shit like that. Then I would agree it's justified, but if it's result based, then no way.

Like myself, I'm a huge fan of NiP since CS 1.0, they weren't good in 1.0 like teams eoLithic, team9 and so on but once 1.3 came along they were beasts thanks to people like HeatoN. A weird fact is that many people love to change being fans from team to team, except the NiP fans always have been NiP fans even when they have bad tournaments behind them, we stick to NiP! TBH NiP doesn't deserve this award. First off, a team that wins this award shouldn't have made a roster change, because that obviously shows the team is missing some stability to succeed. Did i said im following him just cause the money he's earning per year? Nope. Just mentioned that even so called "shit esport game" CoD, has way bigger prize pots than the so called god-tier CS:GO will ever have :). So butthurt. Well, deserved. NiP best team in CS History, I mean lets be honest these guys won pretty much EVERYTHING. I mean, you have guys like GeT RiGhT and f0rest, the 2 best cs players in the fucking world. No one will ever be better than them, It's too soon to tell but in my opinion, I don't see any one being them. They're legends and they're still here to receive this award and many more, I hope!
