Wolves & mouz to Katowice qualifier

CPH Wolves and mousesports will be joining Titan, Epsilon, ESC Gaming and dignitas in the ESL One Katowice offline qualifier, after making it to the grand final of the first European online qualifier.

Yesterday the first European online qualifier started with 319 participants drawn into a single elimination bracket. Most of the bracket was played then, but from the round of sixteen on, it was played tonight.

mousesports, Copenhagen Wolves and ex-Flipsid3 got all the way to the semi-final, interestingly enough joined by Swedish lanlaget, who bested Planetkey Dynamics and eXes on their way there.

chrisJ's previous major was last year's Katowice

mousesports and ex-Flipsid3 were on the upper side of the bracket and it was the former, who secured a spot at the LAN qualifier by edging the Swedes on Nuke 16-14 after two 8-7 sides, and demolishing them on Dust2 with a 16-3 score.

lanlaget were the big surprise of the tournament, but they weren't able to get past Copenhagen Wolves despite putting up great efforts on Cobblestone, where the Danes had to pull through after an overtime.

Copenhagen Wolves and mousesports will be joining the four invited teams in the LAN qualifier taking place on February 14-15, making the current team list such:

France Titan France Epsilon
Denmark dignitas Poland ESC
Germany mousesports  Denmark CPH Wolves

Ten more teams will come from numerous other qualifiers, taking place throughout the next week with schedule and links for registration purposes below:

1st NA free major seems highly likely, this seems like the best approach to get the very best teams.

Yes, i know that but i mean its not like you guys are gonna miss out on a spot in the lan qualifiers. I am perfectly fine with top8 from previous major being invited for the next main event. Just because ESC is from poland they shouldnt get a free invite to the main event for "hype" factor. just my 5 cents.

Id risk saying that we would qualify no matter what, but its cool that they invited us giving another polish team a chance to compete, maybe a little surprise will happen there. Im actually a big fan of giving more spots for a country that tournament is hosted in, even tho we all have to go through qualifiers to attend main event, its just healthy for fans and players to perform in front people from their own country.

There is still 4 more invites from ESL for offline qualifiers so another team can be there, but it doesn't matter because no NA team will make it through quals to the major.

It was 2 teams before as C9 was invited by being top8 in the major before. They failed during DH so only one spot for NA as usual and maybe a direct invite for the offline qualifiers
