Liquid, eLevate to FACEIT Finals

Team Liquid and eLevate have qualified for the FACEIT Finals after finishing in the top two places in the North American division.

There was no shortage of surprises in the North American FACEIT League division as neither Cloud9 nor CLG - the two teams that made it to ESL One Katowice - were able to break into the top two.

eLevate have confirmed that their victory in the Alienware Area 51 Cup last month was no fluke as they topped the league table on 24 points, the same as Team Liquid, with the head-to-head advantage going to Tyler "Storm" Wood's side.

adreN's Team Liquid qualify for the global FACEIT League finals

These results could be used as evidence that Liquid made the right move to replace Keith "NAF" Markovic with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski following a series of mixed results in domestic and foreign tournaments. Despite losing one of their key players, eLevate quickly found a replacement in the shape of Derek "desi" Branchen and have so far managed to stay on track.

The list of participants for the FACEIT League finals currently looks as follows:

its crazy how even the NA scene has become without iBP. I still think c9 is by far the best at playing international competition, but they definitely have their struggles within NA.

No other NA team has really had the chance multiple times like c9 with this and the next esea lan we should see how far NA has come

Yeah definitely, earlier it was only iBP vs C9/coL. then LunatiK(LtK->Denial->Liquid) came up, Exertus(Xrt->eLevate) showed up, and NCG(ncg->mspaz->clg) were also displaying their power now these 4 teams are probably the top4 in NA right now.

Considering that each team has beaten each other at least once or twice, it's not surprising. There's really no top NA team right now; it's really scrambled across eLevate, Liquid, CLG, and C9.

nah. the top na teams are pretty much the tier 2 of europe skillwise. they would win and loss a respectable amount if they just played tier 2 european teams like cph, mouz, gamers2, navi, new ldlc, lgb, etc. they can surprise tier 1 teams too but i wouldn't put a lot of money on it that they consistently do it.

nah. like i said before, they can surprise top teams. also ibuypower was all of NA's best talent. ibuypower would go on to become a tier 1 team if they didnt fix that dumb match and kept training. they were way better than the rest of NA teams.

Wasn't c9 crying about how there's no competition in the NA scene, with that being why they can't progress? Well here you go, don't even qualify for an international lan with 2 NA spots. First the bootcampo excuses, then the excuses of having no competition, both failing

They went down when Hiko left. Shahzam is very overrated. sG@res, n0thing and Semphis are good players but just so inconsistent. They like need a kick start to get going and that was always Hiko. Now they have nothing to get them going. Only bright spot is Shroud. Just glad he is getting good XP cuz he really could be top 3 player NA. I really want them to be good but they just aren't. They need to scrap it. NA needs to make 1 great team when swag is back and Hiko and Ska choose a team. To compete with EU NA is gonna need a team like: Hiko Ska Swag Shroud/Roca/AZK/tarik/nitr0/

I would agree with you. I would like to think he isn't overrated. But so many people think he, m0E and summ1t are so good. Don't get me wrong they are good players. But not close to elite professional level.

You're right about C9. I'd add that they don't play as a team well. Sgares is actually an intelligent igl, probably the best remaining one NA (which isn't saying much), but he isn't forceful, and Semphis/n0thing/Shahzam seem to play as individuals and not let him call the shots, especially CT side. So a competitive NA team would not only have consistent players, but players committed to playing as a cohesive unit, and who fit each other well. With this in mind, if all contracts were off today, I think this list would work a bit better: Sgares--igl and acceptable supportive player Hiko--lurker, NA's most reliable teammate EliGE/hazed--entry fragger, passionate and aggressive about their art Ska/ptr--AWPer Shroud--main fragger and off-site CT carry My one worry with such a lineup would be how well they would communicate. Ska is by far best sniper NA, but ptr has much better comms. Hiko's even keel would play a major role in creating a cohesive unit. Of course, something like this isn't happening any time soon...

Two up-and-coming NA teams. Lots of skilled aimers and emerging entry fraggers up in this, but both teams need to hone their teamwork and shot-calling. Can't wait to see how roca, EliGE, Nitr0, and company perform offline.
