TSM triumph over fnatic with CCS win

TSM broke their own curse of semi-final finishes this weekend and have now one-upped that result by winning the CCS Kick-off Season finals over fnatic 3-1 (16:11 on de_mirage, 11:16 on de_dust2 and 16:11 on de_overpass).

Having come into the game with a one-map lead and the veto advantage, Team SoloMid knew that this was their title to lose and that, given their past experience, they would have to remain calm and collected throughout the series to prevent cracking under pressure.
However, things certainly did not go TSM's way during the early stages of de_mirage as the Danish team found themselves down 0-6 after losing the pistol round to a Robin "flusha" Rönnquist clutch in the A bombsite. fnatic were then left frustrated in their attempt to enter the A site, but the Swedish team quickly restored a six-round lead to leave TSM's economy in shambles.

Having come into the game with a one-map lead and the veto advantage, Team SoloMid knew that this was their title to lose. Still, given their track record, they would have to remain calm and collected throughout the series to prevent their cracking under pressure.

However, things certainly did not go TSM's way during the early stages of de_mirage as the Danish team found themselves down 0:6. fnatic were then left frustrated in their attempt to enter the A site, but the Swedish team quickly restored a six-round lead to leave TSM's economy in shambles.

A lackadaisical buy from the Danes in the following round was enough to stop fnatic from further extending their lead. Until the end of the half, TSM, inspired by some amazing AWP shots from Finn "karrigan" Andersen inside B, played a flawless game as they brought the scoreline to 8:7 in their favour.

The former dignitas team kept their momentum going and won the opening three rounds and the first gun battle to force a pause out of fnatic. Still, TSM remained in the driving seat and won the following two rounds, the first of which happened thanks to a perfect A fake followed by the bomb plant in B.

fnatic then found a lifeline as they won four consecutive rounds to reduce the deficit to 11:15, but a no-nonsense A push from TSM put the final nail in the Swedes' coffin.

TSM won the first map of the series in convincing fashion

The map that followed was de_dust2, where fnatic once again came out the better of the two teams as they picked up the opening five rounds. Nicolai "device" Reedtz then opened things up with two AWP kills to give TSM their first round of the map, with the Danes following it up with a successful mid-B split.

A triple kill from flusha during a retake in the A site put fnatic back on the right track and left TSM strapped for cash. The ESL One Katowice champions kept their foot on the gas until the end of the half to take an impressive 12-3 lead.

Three kills in quick succession from flusha in the pistol round further set TSM back, but the Danes refused to throw in the towel and won the first eco round. Little by little, TSM started closing the gap on their opponent, but fnatic eventually secured the last round they needed to take the game to a third map.

flusha had some big personal rounds on de_dust2

de_overpass was the arena for the third map of grand final play and fnatic were able to start out on the preferable CT side. The Swedes put their past maps' momentum to use and took the pistol round, but TSM continued to pay homage to their eco round status in this series with René "cajunb" Borg helping the Danes secure the next round.

Undaunted, fnatic re-converted the next eco in their favour and powered ahead two rounds. TSM put together a set-piece A take the next round with effective smokes and managed to get the correct entries, giving them another round, but fnatic's defense claimed the next round, setting the pace of a closely-matched game.

The Swedish powerhouse had a poor money situation on their hands however and were unable to stop an aggressive B-site take by TSM in the very next round. TSM kept up their compact T-sided play and managed to finish the half with an advantage at 9:6, a promising outcome.

The second half marked a critical moment for the Danes with the question on many minds being if they would avoid a characteristic choke. However, fortune favoured Team SoloMid as they easily stopped a fnatic push and pulled ahead in the subsequent save rounds to 12:6.

karrigan will no doubt be overjoyed with his team's performance

A misplayed nineteenth round by fnatic saw them lose the second half's first gunround, creating slim prospects for the flagging Swedes. TSM secured match point but fnatic started to suddenly claw their way back, picking up multiple rounds with Jesper "JW" Wecksell suddenly appearing awake and alert with important kills across the board.

TSM somewhat characteristically rushed fnatic with pistols and miraculously started picking apart the Swedes, winning an eco, the series and immense prestige by becoming CCS champions for the Kick-off season.

I would not go as far as saying EnVyUs is a top 5 team. Not NiP either right now. + there's more teams that deserves a top 5 spot. Like Virtus Pro, Navi, Titan(meh).

Whenever they start loosing to teams outside top5( Vp, TSM, NiP and nVus) on LAN, then we can start talking about them being top5 or not. NaVi is a contender for a top5 spot, but imo they need to prove over longer time.

Na`Vi and VP should be able to win those 4 in the final. TSM are already able to do so, no more chokerino for device = TSM top1-4. Na`Vi and VP will have much time to prove themselves as the real candidates to win not only in groups or vs choking top1-... teams, but also vs their fully powered versions. I hope EnVyUs and NiP will soon fix their issues, and come back stronger, and Na`Vi should be able to beat them to be regarded as top1-... team, and so should VP.

Just FYI,VP has won more events than TSM has in the last 1 year, and even in 2015,and has beaten TSM twice on LAN itself. VP did beat TSM in the final of CPH games and semis as well. VP thrashed everyone at ESEA as well, only dropping a map to fnatic in the final.

I guess fnatic got jetlagged much more than VP, otherwise they wouldn't lose to Titan so badly. So, VP just adapted better to the US timezone. We all saw VP losing to TSM (with cadiaN!) not so long ago, let them win something big in Europe, and only after that call them top1-5. And no, Titan can't win anything, when there are fnatic/NiP/EnVyUs/TSM/Virtus.Pro playing at the same tournament. They can win vs them in the groupstage sometimes, but they can't win in the play-off brackets.

fnatic, NIP, enyus, TSM, NAVI and VP can all win a big tournament and must be top6 - with a far margin to the next teams in the world.

Lets hope they are consistent. I mean they always are top4 but if they are consistent as they were in this tourney it will be very interesting. NiP needs to revitalize them self's some how ever since fifflaren left they have been lacking in the tactic department and friberg has been under-performing hugely. Regardless good job even tough i like fnatic TSM deserved it with the plays.

I'm aware. He switched to source in 2009, as it in the danish scene was considered an good move for competetive play If you weren't good enough for top level 1.6 (as prveviously shown by Rytter and others who didn't even have the level for top 10 teams in domistic 1.6 ladders). He had played 1.6 for atleast 4 years that I know before his source career.

TSM, Navi and VP putting a stop to the nV and fnatic trains. Now I just hope NiP can win something again. Anyway, well deserved win by TSM!

Absolutely and truly deserved win for TSM. Finally they broke the curse and demonstrated to every other top team that they are winners too. No choke, nada, niente, nothing. This tournament they displayed pure winners' mentality. And best of all, they have showed us to be very sympathetic guys with sportsmanship towards their opponents and receiving the trophy with humbleness. It totally suits these guys. Congratulations to TSM for winning the Night of Champions! May you win lots more in the future <3

only silvers sqaid -xyp9x even when he got not as many frags in a match than e.g. device or dupreeh... he always is strong in the important rounds and he is a very good clutcher! his game sense is great and one of my fav. players

"TSM broke their own curse of semi-final finishes this weekend and have now one-upped that result by winning the CCS Kick-off Season finals over fnatic 3-1 ..." It's 2-1, isn't it?

It was a BO5 and TSM had one map advantage due to coming from the upper bracket so 3-1
