Invites for ESWC CIS revealed

CyberStadium has revealed the invite list for the CIS qualifier for ESWC Montreal.

From June 19-21, the city of Moscow will play host to the CIS ESWC qualifier, where ten teams will duke it out for the spot at ESWC Montreal, one of the most important events of the second half of the year, featuring a $75,000 prize pool.

Four seeded teams will be joined by the winners of regional pre-qualifiers in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and the Baltic States at the event, which will take place inside the Moscow Cyber Stadium.

Na`Vi invited to ESWC regional qualifier

Without too much surprise, CIS giants HellRaisers, Na`Vi and FlipSid3 Tactics receive invitations to attend the regional qualifier. The fourth seed has gone to ACES, a Russian team featuring veterans Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov and Aleksei "ub1que" Polivanov.

Below you can find how the participating teams will be distributed between the two groups:

Group A Group B
Ukraine FlipSid3 Tactics Null element Na`Vi
Russia ACES Null element HellRaisers
Ukraine Ukrainian champion Russia Russian champion
Kazakhstan Kazakhstani champion Azerbaijan Azerbaijanian champion
Belarus Belarusian champion Other Baltic champion

We are on HLTV mate, 9 out of 10 here are not even 16, only 1% here actually graduated from University/College. This is one fucked up gathering site for shrinks to become rich. This is a goldmine for psychiatrists and psychologists, I'll send them ASAP, together with the state they'll IP trace all you autistic nolife failures and fix you.

ESWC seem to be guided by a multiculturalist philosophy generally. Not saying it's wrong or right, but it's why you'll see Algerian and Japanese teams at ESWC events. Granted the flipside to them getting stomped is they get exposure, generate viewers within their locales, which slowly grows their respective scenes.

Plus sometimes giving a team from a lesser known region the chance to compete in a larger setting can prove that team to be quite good. Case in point: keyD. Plus if they want to call themselves a world cup then giving slots to a wide variety of teams is kinda of needed.

You can add Immunity to case in point, Vox always got the easy pass as they were invited to all the majors and qualifiers, Immunity had to win Online to be able to get to these international LAN's.

Vox weren't invited to majors, they had to go through the qualifiers every single time, as they haven't passed a group stage yet. Also, one of the Gfinity casters made a great point yesterday about VoX: "I was talking to one of the guys from VoX about Immunity beating them recently and he replied, We don't care about beating Australian teams, as the top team in Australia, all the other teams study us to beat us. But we spend our time studying other european and american teams so when we go to big LANs, we can prove ourself as a global team, not just a local team" Maybe that provides some insight?

It's the same in football world cup. If they made a global qualifier (which i know is unrealistic cos it would take like 5 years to finish) there would be ~10 european teams in the final stage.
