desi announces eLevate exit

Derek "desi" Branchen has announced via Twitter that he has been released by eLevate.

The news comes just hours after eLevate were eliminated from the ESWC USA qualifier in the semi-final stage following a 0-2 defeat against Team Liquid, who would go on to win the tournament.

Derek "⁠desi⁠" Branchen, who had been part of the team since March, when he was brought on to replace Liquid-bound Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski, has just revealed on Twitter that he is a free agent after being released from his contract with eLevate.

Replacing the former iBUYPOWER member will allegedly be Andrew "⁠Professor_Chaos⁠" Heintz, who has been without a team since losing his place on Nihilum's roster to Spencer "⁠Hiko⁠" Martin.

With these changes, eLevate now have:

David "⁠Xp3⁠" Garrido
William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba
Daniel "⁠roca⁠" Gustaferri

Storm might not be as good of a fragger but he's the one with the most experience and knowledge on that team. His LAN experience probably totals more than the rest of the team combine. desi, roca, and RUSH are the same type of run and gun players and fit the same roles on the team. If anyone on Elevate was going to be replaced, it would be one of those three. Prof Chaos brings a much needed dedicated awper into their lineup which is a big plus.

He is one of the most toxic players that you can ever have on a team, no one likes playing with him because he is a stat-whore and whenever you go in an argument with him he would directly refer to his stats. Trust me on this, elevate might have been his only chance to prove his attitude changed.. sad, he has the potential to be a great player..

He already had a try out with Liquid (when they still had daps) and they chose Elige over him. There's a reason for that.

typical csgo community anybody who cant frag is terrible Flowsick is great at what he does. He doesnt hit crazy shots but they already have elige, nitro. and fugly for that. Flowsick is a good teamplayer and rarely messes up in terms of positioning and timing. Hes stable, what a young team like liquid needs.

Exactly. Flowsick's job is not to frag like crazy. Liquid was terribly imbalanced before adding him, and removing him will only imbalance them again. Not to mention that Liquid's main issue is teamplay, and that is not something desi thrives at.

Theres gotta be something up with desi when he gets continually passed on by top NA teams. Kicked from ibP (but for better players), not considered for denial/liquid, not considered for torqued, not given a spot on luminosity when he was a stand-in, and now kicked from elevate...all in a 7 month period. There has to be something behind the scenes that we don't know about.

+1 There are other players who have bad habits as players (peeking too much, not being the best team player, etc.) who have managed to stay on teams longer than desi. He seems like a nice guy, but maybe it's an ego thing behind the scenes?

Desi is a good player, but has been making stupid-as-fuck plays in their last however many series', so this isn't a surprise at all; decent individual skill, but toxic as fuck. He's thrown so many easily winnable 1v1's (one of which ended up losing them the game on cache a week or two ago vs vVv was it?).. The dude tries rambo lurking time and time again on CT side and repeatedly dies.. etc. So this is understandable.
