DH Open Summer groups drawn

DreamHack have released the groups for the Open Summer event taking place from June 13-15, as well as the talent lineup and a full schedule.

DreamHack Open Summer is almost upon us, ten days are remaining before the action kicks off in Jönköping, Sweden with eight teams, two of which will come from the BYOC qualifier.

Four have been invited directly for the event, NiP, Natus Vincere, fnatic and Titan, while two had to come from the closed qualifier at the end of May, LGB following a 3-2 win over HellRaisers, and FlipSid3, who came out of a 3-0 victory versus dignitas.

Today teams learned their fate in the $40,000 tournament, as the groups have been drawn as follows:

The eight teams will battle it out in a GSL group system according to a schedule that has also been revealed in today's announcement:

They wont...last time this was a bigger event with 16 teams,and the only teams that qualified from the BYOC qualifiers were local tier2/3 norway and swedish teams.. It was also REALLY shitty pricepool DH Summer 2014. The pricepool was like 10k USD or some shit. Seeing as it's bigger now, more good teams may play BYOC.

Last year all tournaments were shitty compared to this year. And last year it was a bigger and better event..and it had some respect/importance...this year DH summer is just like any other regional DH tournament. Also the current prize is just 40k.

NiP and Na'Vi are probably top seeds because they were the finalists last year, so the groups have the two top seeds with the two bottom seeds and the middle 4 in the other group.

Obviously the more normal thing to do is to draw groups with the 6 pre-qualified teams and split the BYOC-teams in to both groups. But either way it doesn't change much, it'll be NiP and Na'Vi from group B. Fnatic and some meaningless team will go through in group A.

I think you didn't read it properly. The BYOC qualifier are on same day of the event which will have Group A games, meaning that they can only be placed into group B

Here's the thing: Fnatic has no realistic chance of losing against the three in it's group. The 2nd and 3rd strongest teams (NiP & NaVi) are in the same group. In this context, putting both BYOC's in that group makes the most sense.
