fnatic edge out TSM to advance

fnatic advance to the quarter-finals in the final group stage match of the day, defeating longtime rivals TSM 16-14 on de_overpass.

The final match of the first day of the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 finals brought together two teams whom many had feasibly expected to meet in the grand finals of the event itself.

With elimination in 7-8th place the destiny of the loser, the map for the best-of-one elimination match between these two elite teams was set to be de_overpass.

TSM began their T side with a pistol round win which fnatic simply force-bought against in the next round and which allowed the Swedes to equalise the score. AS a result, TSM's money was reset and fnatic powered ahead in the early game as a result.

Although fnatic gained this early advantage, the first half was generally equally contested between both teams, and TSM's René "⁠cajunb⁠" Borg in particular stepped up to the plate. fnatic still finished the first half with a leading score of 9-6.

olofmeister & co. triumph over TSM in a best-of-one

The second half saw TSM at first enter the lead, with the Danes at one point going up 10-7. With each round being a tense thriller in and of itself in the late game however, fnatic combined ballsy play with aggressive maneuvers and began to pull ahead, going up 14-11 with TSM on their last chance to buy up.

TSM made good on that last sliver of hope and strung together three successive rounds. With the score at 14-14, fnatic force bought everything possible (with most players on pistols), and somehow won the round with an A-site smoke take.

The final round fell apart with even more ease and fnatic powered forward to take the game and advance to the quarter-finals.

it was 16-14 its way too close to really say that fnatic is better (plus it was a bo1). Tsm have beaten fnatic at lans in a bo5's and bo3's but also lost as much to fnatic. I would say both teams are neck and neck

WHat do u mean by "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN" The maps are mutually decided by vetoes,all your weakest maps are out. What the fuck more do you want ? So you mean to say that in order to prove who is better,lets play a BO3,where both teams choose a map and the third is the map that is left after the veto ? What happens when both teams win their map picks? It essentially becomes a Bo1. But then HLTV cant understand this.Too mad about skins.

well, it's not exactly like this. some teams warmup slower than the others, some may be lucky, etc. and so, weaker team can win bo1 but will loose bo3 for sure.

Meh, great game but I got seriously dissapointed by how TSM decided to play out the last rounds. WP Fnatic..

1 million dollar league. 2 maps and you are done. In reality ESL is so poor they cannot even afford normal groupstage/team camping/coverage. 2015 year and we still watching 360p quality stream.

Great game for a bo1. Lots of momentum shifts and a decent amount of individual skills got displayed from both teams. Sadly one team has to leave this event I would personally have loved to have them both in the final.
