fnatic edge out TSM to advance

fnatic advance to the quarter-finals in the final group stage match of the day, defeating longtime rivals TSM 16-14 on de_overpass.

The final match of the first day of the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 1 finals brought together two teams whom many had feasibly expected to meet in the grand finals of the event itself.

With elimination in 7-8th place the destiny of the loser, the map for the best-of-one elimination match between these two elite teams was set to be de_overpass.

TSM began their T side with a pistol round win which fnatic simply force-bought against in the next round and which allowed the Swedes to equalise the score. AS a result, TSM's money was reset and fnatic powered ahead in the early game as a result.

Although fnatic gained this early advantage, the first half was generally equally contested between both teams, and TSM's René "cajunb" Borg in particular stepped up to the plate. fnatic still finished the first half with a leading score of 9-6.

olofmeister & co. triumph over TSM in a best-of-one

The second half saw TSM at first enter the lead, with the Danes at one point going up 10-7. With each round being a tense thriller in and of itself in the late game however, fnatic combined ballsy play with aggressive maneuvers and began to pull ahead, going up 14-11 with TSM on their last chance to buy up.

TSM made good on that last sliver of hope and strung together three successive rounds. With the score at 14-14, fnatic force bought everything possible (with most players on pistols), and somehow won the round with an A-site smoke take.

The final round fell apart with even more ease and fnatic powered forward to take the game and advance to the quarter-finals.

it was 16-14 its way too close to really say that fnatic is better (plus it was a bo1). Tsm have beaten fnatic at lans in a bo5's and bo3's but also lost as much to fnatic. I would say both teams are neck and neck

You're the autist here, in BO1's anything can happen which is why the format is pretty retarded, I don't even like TSM but I feel bad for them because they lost 2 BO1s and now they're out when they were favourites with fnatic to win the tourny.

WHat do u mean by "ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN" The maps are mutually decided by vetoes, all your weakest maps are out. What the fuck more do you want ? So you mean to say that in order to prove who is better, lets play a BO3,where both teams choose a map and the third is the map that is left after the veto ? What happens when both teams win their map picks? It essentially becomes a Bo1. But then HLTV cant understand this.Too mad about skins.

well, it's not exactly like this. some teams warmup slower than the others, some may be lucky, etc. and so, weaker team can win bo1 but will loose bo3 for sure.

Well mate, sorry to break it to you,but both teams played a bo1,and both got the same time to warmup,it was not unfair to any one team. So u mean to say weaker team warms up fast? and better players warm up slow?

Yeah olof says and shit gets done... LOL The tournament format was laid out several mothes in advance and tsm knew it and every other team knew it too. to get to the many finals th So not the tournament or its staff fault that tsm fucked up and wasn't prepared. Get real kid a team can't be top1 if they can't win in any format. Tell me how many b01 group stages did fnatic win to get to the many finals they won?

As KRiMZ said on PoV in this game: "It's soo fucking warm right now...". Olof tells him to keep drinking. JESUS FUCK ESL. Fix your god damn tournament, your players can't perform close to their peak because you can't even give them a simple fucking fan. See that headshot percentage by Device, one of the best riflers and aimers in the world? Yeah, it would NEVER happen if he wasn't sweating balls and in full panic mode. Retards, ESL. Just retards.

better teams won ofc, but that doesn't change the fact that bo1s on multi-day lan are brainless

1.6 most tournies were b01 format before knockout, don't get why people are crying, the best teams in the world still always made it through groups in 1.6, so TSM low.

What an awesome match this must be. When I left Fnatic had been forced to eco and TSM were on the 14th round. Come back this morning and Fnatic are through!

At two times in the game, I was totally sure fnatic would lose. I was really close to stop watching.

Olofmeister, what a beast. The best player of the first half of 2015, by far! "Do or die" game should be BO3, anyway... TSM played two maps in a $250,000 tourney. Cool.

All teams play Bo1 games in a 250k tournament,be it this tournament or a major. Too bad they sucked.

Honestly, I think pretty much everyone would such aswell if they had just comeback from exams, thats a more suitable excuse than the bo1 excuse, since they have 3 games. you cant blame losing 2 of them because its bo1

In no way, this proves the value of TSM or any other team that gets eliminated like this. That's sad.

Im glad TSM going home. Tired of "TSM TOP 1" threads. They have to understand Fnatic is just much better.
