This. It's a LAN. They tend to offer prize money alongside the qualifier so the unqualifying teams still get something for participating.

I don't think any of the teams earned any prize money at the asian qualifier, whether they qualified or not. I imagine its the same for this qualifier as well.

Unless CLG somehow loses to either of the teams in their bracket, team liquid shouldn't go through. Should be Cloud9 and CLG going to the major unless any of the teams upset them seeing as nihilum, lg, and elevate are decent teams whilst noble esports and tempo storm probably can't do much

Shouldn't be that bad Besides from actually doing work and reading fnatics gameplay prior to their match at esl esea, which he should do cause they knew they were going to phase him, then he isn't the best igl. Heard some of their vods... "Take control". Should be pretty easy for a tier 2 team to win bo1 vs the big guys if they know they are going to play them. They have all the time in the world to counter strat them, and the tier 1 teams have too many matches and other stuff to even care about watching their matches, which they would probably not even receive anything from considering the lower tier team should just change everything up and only counter strat the other teams normal strats. That would be for example leaving mid on cache ct side and stack a vs envyus since they go a 12/15 rounds on their t side. Or well, probably not easy since they are so good, but at least fairly easy to get a close match by doing some of the counterstrats on keyrounds. They just need the aim to execute the strats.

The two best teams (Cloud9/Liquid) are in the same group, so I'm assuming they don't have to play one another during playoffs, unless it's in the finals. I think both are the favourites to place top-two. Tempo Storm is a definite sleeper, especially since there's a lack of content of theirs to study. Forcebuyihilum has the potential to beat every team in their group. I wouldn't be shocked if the loser of CLG/LG goes out in groups. Edit: Only two teams from NA is kind of a joke, given our results in the past month. Kind of sucks the format was setup before the Great American Revolution.

So because 1 team has done good in europe, NA should get more than 2 spots? Liquid gets pissed on every tournament. Clg may upset in a bo1, only to ruin a quarter final by getting crushed in a bo3.

Eh. I was under the assumption more teams qualified. The qualifier for Katowice was much better imo, where they actually hosted a LAN and three NA teams were invited. (I really think three is the magic number) A rising tide lifts all boats. NA is back!

For NA this has to be better? They're basically guaranteed 2 teams at the major, in katowice, everyone were fighting for the same spots, so in worst case they wouldnt get any spots. I dont think NA has 3 teams that deserves to be at a major

You're right and I agree. However, if you have four spots to allocate for all non-EU teams. I don't think the Oceania scene is strong enough to warrant two (the Malaysia qualifier was loaded with open-equivalent teams, RNG, and Immunity). If you had a qualifier for non-EU, equivalent to what happened for Katowice, I think that'd be the best format. Edit: And given that proposed format, I think at least three NA teams would qualify.

since at katowice even the t2 european teams would attend most likely only c9(maybe clg too who knows) would go through too the major renegades has proven they can beat top eu teams and i think oceanian and na scene are pretty much the same you have 1 very good team(rng/c9) and one good team(immunity/clg)

that i totally aggree with. i think esl were hoping that some asian team would qualify to get that region in, and decided to put oceania in the same qual. immunity deffinetly doesnt deserve the spot more than clg or liquid. its hard to give the spots out tho, cause i understand that esl wants the asian region involved because of the potential viewers that region will bring.

I gotta say the "results" NA has had make me want to give us one team spot and give it to Cloud9, not two. Or even just make sure C9 has a fucking spot and give one spot to Liquid/CLG/TS because C9 being upset here would set the growth of the scene back. We have one world class team in C9, and CLG/Liquid low T2 teams, with TS being an unknown.
