Video: ESL One Cologne 2015 teaser

It's time to turn our heads to the upcoming major tournament! We created a short teaser video to start setting the mood for ESL One Cologne 2015.

After a number of consecutive weekends with events featuring most of the world's best teams, the time has come for a short break ahead of ESL One Cologne where all of them will be present from August 20-23.

And while the teams start preparations for the $250,000 tournament, we created a teaser video to start setting the mood using our footage of the previous ESL One event.

Furthermore, tomorrow we will share almost 30 gigabytes of our Katowice footage that you can use to create your own pre-ESL One Cologne hype video for our upcoming contest that will reward the best videos with Premium tickets for the event. More on that in the official announcement.

To be honest, I'm not that hyped about these majors anymore. The tournament format is mediocre and a few really good condenders are missing. The price money isn't even significantly higher than other tournaments either..oh well.

They aren't bad but they aren't good contenders for winning the title tho. Majors spots are much harder to get for EU Teams, but, those EU teams have also a lot more chance to practice and to improve their gameplay thanks to online and offline events, while NA and Asia teams can't fight against EU very often. I guess it's normal for them to have easier spots, even if it's not very fun to see 16-2 in group stage

obviously out of 16 teams they wont be competitive... if you got the undisputable top16 only about 4-6 would have a chance

Yet they are obviously better than teams like flipsid3 and ebettle and will have a much better chance of upsetting t1 teams.

Yes, this is true for Ebettle, the groups were fucked up and they got lucky. Dunno about FS3 tho, i don't really like the line-up with Davcost, i would have signed Cyberfocus or Fix but now they are in Évolution.

They won 16-14 and 25-23. And also, HR and Titan aren't strong teams IMO. HR are pretty old players without a lot of motivation and the kazakh duo is average IMO, while Titan is a fresh team with zero preparation.

Still. They won, so they go to Cologne. I know that BO1's are not too reliable, but it happened. The only teams missing from TOP16 are HR and dignitas. They could probably upset in groups, but not in TOP4 matches.

Immunity, most likely 2nd US contender but they could be on the same ones like listed above and I'm sure that if there was a groupstage between eBettle and the ones mentioned above not ebettle would come out on top.

tyty, Can I attend the matches on August 20th and 21st? ESL is setting up a public viewing area where you will be able to watch the matches. More information on the public viewing will be revealed in the next days.

Group stage matches will be played in the ESL Studios (not open to the public). Playoffs will be played in the LANXESS Arena (7 matches in total). I think it's worth it though :)

Yeah, that's what I said? :D It was known for months now though, there were never tickets for thursday or friday and also it was said in one of our HLTV articles iirc. It's actually pretty disappointing as it has never been like this before and the group stage matches were always actually pretty exciting. Maybe one should watch the group stage matches at home and fly over to Cologne on friday night or saturday morning. ;) (at least that's what I'm doing haha)

I've never been there before so I can't really answer your question. However, there's mostly free WiFi at the hotels here in Germany so you could just connect from there? (That's what I'm doing too hahaha)

No, my reaction is based on wanting majors to have the right teams qualify, as qualifying equals 100000$ in sticker money or more per team. I want the good teams to grow, not shitty ones because they're good in BO1s.

My reaction is based on wanting majors to have the right teams qualify, as qualifying equals 100000$ in sticker money or more per team. I want the good teams to grow, not shitty ones because they're good in BO1s. Immunity also only qualified because Valve wanted the Asian region to qualify. They would stand no chance whatsoever in the EU or maybe even NA qualifier.

what kind of teaser is this? it's about the last major, show me the next venue, create a sense of "here cs history will happen" instead of celebrating your prior tournament that said, this will be the most interesting major to date competition-wise, although it's disappointing the french shuffle happened right before and some good teams aren't there also valve being cheap; 500k at least would make this tournament way more tense, and the game and teams deserve it, the game and competition is at its peak right now hopefully this time the venue isn't a letdown like it was the last time in cologne the format still sucks, bo1 random map pick and all

Read in the papers last week that they're gonna broadcast the tournament in the biggest cinemas in Holland (Pathé). They stated they would provide exclusive content on top of the official stream. Probably special interviews, backstage reports etc?
