NiKo replaces Spiidi in mousesports

mousesports have revamped their starting roster, as youngster Nikola "NiKo" Kovač replaced Timo "Spiidi" Richter effective immediately.

mousesports have had a rocky road in the past few months after showing promise at Gfinity Summer Masters I, where they beat Virtus.pro twice in best-of-threes to advance to playoffs.

After coming second at Acer Predator Masters, falling to HellRaisers in the grand final, mousesports finished fourth at the peculiar IEM Gamescom, and fell to FlipSid3 in the elimination game in a close manner at ESL One Cologne.

NiKo comes back to mousesports' starting roster

At the major, the team had to field former PENTA trio Denis "⁠denis⁠" Howell, Johannes "⁠nex⁠" Maget, Timo "⁠Spiidi⁠" Richter, and rumours spread around that one of them would leave the roster, making room for Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač. He's been contracted to mousesports since April and stood in for Kinguin and SK Gaming at Gaming Paradise and IEM Gamescom.

Such move has now been confirmed, as the youngster from Bosnia and Herzegovina moves back to the starting roster, which leaves Spiidi in a substitute position within the team.

"I'm so happy to play in the starting roster of mousesports again. It was hard to watch my team competing without me, but now I'm back and I would like to thank mousesports and our sponsors BenQ, EpicGear, Unikrn & Sennheiser for this opportunity. I'm coming back much stronger!" Kovač said in a statement on mousesports' website.

After the change, mousesports' lineup is:

This is what i thought aswell, all the hate against spiidi was not justified, the whole team underperformed last 2 tournaments.. Spiidi was actually one of my favourite players cause he seems so calm and happy all the time.

They didn't qualify as Legends for the next major, so they wouldn't be needing 3 core players. Even if they did, replacing Spiidi with Niko would of had 4 core players :)

spiidi is a better rifler than denis,... by far. I guess they need denis to play the bitch role, questionable move IMO.

I had hoped for -gob b and + Niko and then gob for coach. His main part is to call, so why not make him focus on that, cuz he rarely frags well against top teams. I mean the main reason they didn't use Niko in the first place was for german calls, now that they bring him in, they might as well get a fragger lineup and make gob do the coaching.

How i see this change: Gob b knows NiKo is a star, wants to try him out in the team so he still kept Spiidi as a backup. mousesports took advantage of this by making NiKo sign an extended contract, if things don't work out, Spiidi most likely will comeback to the team and NiKo will be stuck teamless yet again and with a ridiculous buyout.

spiidi probably one of the best players to get cut in a long time, I'm not going to pretend like I watch every mouz game but tbh he seemed pretty good for them. Not that denis was bad or anything, spiidi looked better to me though.

denis is their second awp though and picks up the awp if chrisj doesnt feel like it. Think that playd more of a role than who is the better player.

Niko can do that aswell. I dont like the role change they are doing. Spiidi was pure rifle support he never awped. And putting Niko in a support role where he is the third awp. I dont like that at all. But I think just because of his pure skill Mouz will be better. Still Denis would be more fitting to exchange since he has/had the same role as Niko always played in other teams.

Expected, Spiidi was only there so they would be placed in the major, the only reason Niko stayed under contract was because of this move after the major. He did decent though, but Mouz has a much better player in Niko.

Imagine how it was for NiKo then if spiidi is in bad situation. He joins team and finally can play against best teams, he is top fragging for mouz in every single map they play and winning them tournament almost on his own. After 2 months of insane performance they tell him: Well you see, we are scared to go threw Major Quali so we will buy 3 penta players to get Legend spot at Major and receive money from stickers. Meanwhile you will be benched for 4 months and play with us only when we are missing 1 player...

If Kinguin do -fox + Chrisj and -dennis + niko would be cool to see, but chrisj and his laungauge barrier :/ Pls dont judge but I think it would work better then the current kinguin. Im also not hating fox but at Colonge (I only watched to Kinguin 2 maps) when I watched him play he bottom fragged. I know your going to say kills dont matter, but when your the awper kills are the only thing that matter weather its entry, mid round, or just clean up.
