DreamHack Cluj Asian pre-qualifiers

After announcing the European pre-qualifiers, DreamHack also revealed the qualifier system for the Asian region, which will hand out a single spot for DreamHack Open Stockholm.

As we've highlighted in the previous article concering the European pre-qualifiers, DreamHack Open Stockholm will serve as the offline qualifier for the next major, DreamHack Cluj-Napoca.

Eight spots in Stockholm are already decided, as the bottom eight from ESL One Cologne received a direct invite, five more will come through the two European pre-qualifiers, one will come in from Asia and the remaining two will be handed to North America.

zhonG's QeeYou will get another chance to qualify for a major

DreamHack have now announced the qualifiying system for Asia, which will once again feature a best-of-one open stage for 256 teams. From there four advance to the best-of-three closed stage, joining four invited teams, as shown in the table below:

Sep. 5-6 - 1 spot to Stockholm
Sep. 5 07:00 Open Stage 256 teams

"Eight spots in Stockholm are already decided, as the bottom eight from ESL One Cologne received a direct invite..." I am a bit confused by this. Did you mean to say "Eight spots in Stockholm are already decided, as the TOP eight from ESL Cologne received a direct invite..." ?

No, bottom 8, and I guess if the asians end up as one of the top contenders they continue onwards to play at DH romania.

No, the bottom eight of cologne (the teams that didn't got through groups) are invited to dreamhack Stockholm , which is a qualifier for Cluj. The top eight of Cologne dont have to go through the qualifier they are legends. DHStockholm = qualifier for Cluj DHCluj = major

you think the 2nd best team from NA is better than the best of these teams? I doubt that. At worst it's 50/50, and if it's around 50/50, then more variety from different parts of the world is clearly the better choice.

For people asking for brazilian qualifiers, oceanic qualifiers, antartic qualifiers, fucking mars qualifiers... IT WILL NOT MATTER, AFTER THESE YOU STILL HAVE TO PLAY AT DREAMHACK STOCKHOLM QUALIFIERS AGAINST THE OTHER 8 TEAMS FROM MAJOR, WICH WILL RESULT IN REKT!

So let me get this right. If an open Asian no namer team wants a spot at DH Cluj, he has to survive the Bo1s and be Top 4 in the open stage, win the pre-qualifier at closed stage, get a place at DH Stockholm and be Top 8, amirite?

Yes,same for NA and EU,except EU has 5 slots and NA has 2 ,while asia has 1 ,because they dont deserve 1.Its just a courtesy.

Well if you forever dont give them, they will never get a chance. I feel this is fine. If Asia's best can survive through 2 tedious qualifiers and still qualify, it is justified. If they dont qualify, then fine, be it. If you follow the principle that they should not be given spots just because they have no chance, then Olympics should not give spots to some weak no namer country that for sure doesnt even win a medal at all too. It is like saying there should be no relegation from the EPL so tier 2 teams from the nPower league championship may never be promoted to EPL no matter how good they are. People improve. Look at TSM and see how far they have matured. A year ago, they were just an average Tier 1 team but now, they are world beaters.

Mate they should be given chances at smaller tournaments first, before being given chance at a major ! TSM are fnatic beaters. Also their winning streak was march 2015 to like july 2015,havent been doing that good recently.

LANs are very rare here. This is as small a chance you can get to a major. Unlike ESL One Cologne where the Asian team just needs to win the online and offline qualifier at their region to qualify, this one needs the Asian teams to duke it out in their own pre-qualifier, win it, travel all the way to Stockholm for the international qualifier and get into Top 8. If all goes right, we wont even see an Asian team in the majo.r If an Asian team does achieve that almost impossible feat, don't you think they deserve a spot?

If u said Asian qualifier, nxl must on the top of the list. We got some of us wrote down all the track records what nxl matches has done. This list already invited. But please for the next invitation list, take a look on nxl since we already informed about nxl. Maybe the organizer based on European, so it's still ok if they didn't know much on the scene. We are not argue about this matter but I, as the one who keep my eyes on the community tried to help and inform the organizer. Not just because I'm Indonesian so I want nxl on the top of the list so bad, but it's the matter of fact they really deserved it in term of skill, organization profile, and track records. *analyst perspective* I hope there is no obstacle in open qualifier like the time passed (ddos isssue), we will see nxl will make it through the main event *fans perspective*
