Day one over; Cloud9 to Cluj major

Day one of DreamHack Open Stockholm has come to an end, with Cloud9 securing a spot at the Cluj major.

The opening day of DreamHack Open Stockholm, which will serve as the offline qualifier for the upcoming Valve-sponsored major in Cluj, began with Cloud9 taking on ROCCAT in a thrilling series that was much closer than many had anticipated.

With Miikka "suNny" Kemppi looking like he was in the form of his life, the Finnish team gave Cloud9 a run for their money, but in the end the North American side prevailed by a 2-0 scoreline following 16-14 and 16-8 victories on de_dust2 and de_cache, respectively.

The other semi-final clash featured another Nordic heavyweight, dignitas, who took on Australian side Immunity. The Danish team started off the series with a bang as they cruised to a 16-5 success on de_cache. The next map, de_inferno, was a lot closer, but still dignitas managed to scrape a 16-12 win.

Cloud9 and dignitas then faced each other in the group's Upper Bracket final, with one spot at the Cluj major at stake. The North American giants came out strongly in the series, picking up a 16-12 win on de_inferno, and they carried this momentum into the second map, de_cache, where they ran out 16-6 winners.

The final match of the day was a battle for survival as ROCCAT and Immunity were playing for their lives in this tournament. The Australian team proved far too good for their opponents and closed the series out on two maps thanks to a 16-8 success on de_mirage and a 16-14 win on de_dust2.

C9 loses, they call them Clown9, they win, they just say some dumb shit about adderall. Or they say "____ carried". Anything to discredit C9 around here. I feel like I'm in high school again where the insecure kids would hate on the more popular, better kids just to make themselves feel better. Then again, the average age on this website probably floats somewhere between 11 and 15 so I shouldn't be surprised. Side note, I feel bad for aizy. Dude is easily one of the best Danish players. I don't know if Kjaerbye is Digs problem or something but something needs to happen there. It's obvious that Kjaerbye gets LAN nerves because he shakes so much on LAN. I feel like CajunB and aizy should swap, but personally I miss old Diggy with Fetish.

I'm sure they will be, but they coast through qualifiers every time but every hater always has an excuse. Just because I have an American flag doesn't mean I'm a C9 fan, by the way.

Probably betting or it's just the popular thing to hate Americans. Kids like to feel accepted, so they naturally float towards any hate train bandwagon. They feel like they have less flaws if they point out flaws of others. But, I'm getting too armchair psychologist, so I'll chill.

tbh no one hates c9 i mean the dudes r great but we hate all the fanboys.. when c9 win vs someone outside NA.. even someone like roccat/mixcat who played with standin there goes the spam.. like c9 top1/top3, c9>all, NA>EU, EU salty because bad and etc.Best thing NA have done so far is semi-final on major and i think it was in 2013.. like most europeans want c9 to get knocked just to silince the fanboys.. And here u go this is where all the hate comes from.

The only people saying those things are the morons who think "XD b8" threads are funny. Nobody in their right mind actually thinks NA > EU. EU is fucking massive especially when y'all consider Russia part of EU. This is the only good team we've had since iBP and before that Complexity. Ironically, there were players on both of those squads that are on C9. Regardless, let us have our fucking moment. I'm not even a C9 fan but I feel like breaking out the fucking flag when they win. You EU guys see BO3 wins every fucking day. This is our only team currently that has proven that they can win against the best. Let us revel in that bit ffs. Well... Got that off my chest.

Well there are tons of idiots who insist C9 wouldn't even be tier 2 in EU and idiotic shit like that. Dignitas hasn't been great lately, but they are still solidly a tier 2 team and C9 hasn't really shown that they have a big problem against teams like that even before they did well in a few tournaments.
2015-09-23 01:12

To be fair, if c9 loses there's plenty of clown9 and EU>NA topics. It works both ways, and a circle has no real beginning.
