DH day two rundown; CLG to major

CLG have secured a place at the DreamHack Cluj-Napoca major on day two at DreamHack Open Stockholm. We prepared a concise rundown of group D's results, which also saw CSGOLounge exit the competition early.

Day two in Stockholm kicked off with a FlipSid3-Copenhagen Wolves face-off, whose first map ended sooner than it started. The Ukrainian-Russian side rallied to a 16-1 victory on their pick, de_train, with a stunning 14-1 scoreline as Terrorists.

de_mirage was quite another story, where the Nordic team was clearly much more comfortable, at least as Terrorists, seeing as they picked up 11 rounds before things turned grey. Their defense was once again worth only a single round and FlipSid3 were happy to advance to the upper bracket final.

 FlipSid3 K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
42 - 24 +18 - - 1.44
40 - 26 +14 - - 1.32
34 - 25 +9 - - 1.15
33 - 24 +9 - - 1.09
28 - 24 +4 - - 0.96
 CPH Wolves K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
30 - 32 -2 - - 0.92
26 - 34 -8 - - 0.79
30 - 38 -8 - - 0.77
21 - 35 -14 - - 0.63
15 - 38 -23 - - 0.44

CLG and CSGOLounge were on the other side of the bracket, and it was the latter to go up 1-0 after an overtime battle on de_dust2, with both teams picking up 11 rounds as Terrorists in regulation.

The Americans with a touch of Canada in Pujan "FNS" Mehta managed to take it to 1-1 thanks to another solid Terrorist-side on de_overpass, and sealed the deal with a fairly comfortable de_mirage (16-10).

 CLG K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
71 - 57 +14 - - 1.22
70 - 52 +18 - - 1.18
63 - 58 +5 - - 1.03

61 - 63 -2 - - 0.99
59 - 64 -5 - - 0.94
60 - 66 -6 - - 0.92
45 - 67 -22 - - 0.68

The upper bracket between the two winners followed, and the Terrorist-side trend continued even then. Six rounds as Counter-Terrorists were just enough for the North American representatives to close de_cache at 16-14.

In another de_train showdown, FlipSid3 started by winning their defensive side with a one-round difference, which was bested by CLG later on to take the DreamHack Cluj-Napoca spot, following in the footsteps of Cloud9 yesterday.

 FlipSid3 K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
40 - 37 +3 - - 1.00
41 - 47 -6 - - 0.99
34 - 43 -9 - - 0.88

54 - 35 +19 - - 1.35
39 - 36 +3 - - 0.99
33 - 40 -7 - - 0.79
28 - 36 -8 - - 0.78

Day two closed out with the losing sides gunning for their hopes to qualify. Copenhagen Wolves and CSGOLounge went back and forth on de_cache right from the start, but it was a 1-on-3 clutch from newcomer Oskar "oskarish" Stenborowski for 15-14 that decided it all in the end.

de_mirage was very close on the first half as well, with the Poles coming out ahead by one round as Terrorists. When Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel's squad switches sides, CPH Wolves quickly took the game to 14-9. CSGOLounge were starting to mount a comeback, but the Nordic team broke the defense again towards the end to make it another 16-14 scoreline.

de_dust2 was chosen to decide who would go on in the competition to match up against FlipSid3 on the last day. This time around, CSGOLounge were no match for Copenhagen Wolves' Counter-Terrorist side, and had to endure harsh goodbyes to a spot at the major.

 CPH Wolves K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0
81 - 51 +30 - - 1.42
66 - 50 +16 - - 1.31
49 - 47 +2 - - 1.01

46 - 53 -7 - - 0.87
 CSGL K - D +/- ADR KAST Rating1.0

49 - 59 -10 - - 0.86
49 - 61 -12 - - 0.85
39 - 57 -18 - - 0.70

Day three at DreamHack Open Stockholm will feature Group C with mousesports and Winterfox up first at 12:30 , followed by Renegades and Liquid right afterwards.

If Liquid make the major, at a offline qualifiers that is bo3 and features teams from every region then people who say tier 2 EU > Tier 1 NA will forever be looked upon as fools.

Unless Liquid chokes, we'll see the America's elite on the next major (cloud 9, LG, Liquid, CLG).

I believe too... they have looked superior than LG and CLG online, if they're able to repeat such performance on lan, they will have an easy day tomorrow.
