fnatic to Gfinity Champions final

fnatic defeat NiP in a full best-of-five 3-2 (de_dust2 16-19, de_cbble 16-1, de_mirage 16-13, de_inferno 17-19, de_train 16-7) and proceed to the grand final, where they will meet the winner of Virtus.pro-EnVyUs.

NiP and fnatic were pitted up against each other in the first best-of-five semi-final of Gfinity Champion of Champions and the series started out on one of NiP's picks, de_dust2.

The Finnish-flavoured side got to a quick 7-1 lead due to convincing round wins after winning the pistol round and two of the following three gunrounds. fnatic started catching up afterwards, but it was only good for four rounds out of the remaining seven, making it a 10-5 halftime score.

The second half was much more back-and-forth, and this time NiP couldn't string more than three rounds together spread out during most of the half, as fnatic took map point at 15-13. Jesper "JW" Wecksell's 1-on-3 attempt in a post-plant situation was not enough in the end and NiP climbed back into the overtime, where they took a 4-1 victory.

de_cbble followed with fnatic once again on the side of Counter-Terrorists, but this time around they didn't give NiP any room to breathe, as they kept denying them all chances of entering a bombsite.

In only three rounds did NiP have a reasonable chance of winning, one of which was towards the start of the map, but was eventually stolen away by Robin "flusha" Rönnquist's 1-on-2 clutch, and another going their way. fnatic were happy to switch over to Terrorists at 14-1 and surely enough closed it out with a stunning 16-1 scoreline.

pronax leads fnatic to another grand final

Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson's triple secured fnatic a pistol round win on de_mirage to kick map three off on the offence, but with the help of a second-round forcebuy, NiP took the lead 4-1. From the following six rounds, NiP managed to win four, one of which off the back of Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund's 2-on-4 clutch, before fnatic gave themselves a chance to make it 6-9.

NiP were in the driving seat after winning the second pistol round for 12-6, though slowly but surely, fnatic climbed back, destroying NiP's takes one after another except for only one round.

de_inferno came around with NiP repeating their de_dust2 feat towards the beginning, taking a convincing 10-1 lead. While fnatic did take three more before the half ended, Richard "Xizt" Landström's squad picked up the second pistol as well, at which point many believed the map to be over.

At 15-4 though, fnatic showcased their right for the title of comeback kings, as even in disadvantageous situations, Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer found a way to help his team turn it around round by round and stunningly took the game to overtime. Two rounds as Counter-Terrorists weren't enough for them anyway though, as NiP eventually found a dent in fnatic's armor and took map four 19-17.

de_train decided it all and that time around fnatic were the ones to take a big lead towards the beginning. NiP were only able to string three rounds together during the entire half, but they made up for a part of it with a much-needed pistol round on the other side.

The bomb plant at the beginning allowed fnatic to buy up on round three and win the first full gunround, only for f0rest to break their economy again with a triple for NiP's sixth and seventh round on the last map. It wasn't quite enough for them to be able to come back though, as they let Markus "pronax" Wallsten win a 1-on-3 to take match point and KRIMZ's quad-kill in the last round sealed the grand final for fnatic at 16-7.

Again that's the worse excuse anyone can come up with. One's fragging abilities is not dependent on his ability to call strats. It's based on habitual tendencies on his playstyle

don't mean to hate on Striker but this is a poorly written post-match article . If you literally scroll through the match thread you can pick out key moments in the match from certain players and you could definitely do much better than this . sadly the quality of HLTV posts have been declining since Lurppis have left his post. Other than that , Great game by NIP and Fnatic

Pronax -4 as IGL. Xizt -23. There is a fine difference with being IGL and just not having an impact at all. Friberg is more or less done, this is by far the worst he has played ever. Either he needs to step down himself or NiP should let him go and try to pick up Rain.

Man it has to suck for allu, GTR and forest. Star players wasting their careers away in a tier 2 team, with an org that isn't willing to drop the two players dragging the team down. Allu is the one I REALLY feel sorry for. No matter what he'll get blamed for every loss by the brainless NIP fanboys.

seriously, his game sense was so on point that it really seems like he had walls on at times. fnatic would have lost this if it weren't for some insane eco clutches from flusha.

Anyway, great performance by NIP. thx both teams for nice bo5. I really enjoyed watching it. Huge rounds from forest, JW, olof. Amazing agressive play from gtr. Other players was also good.
