TSM beat Virtus to win PGL S1

Team SoloMid are back-to-back PGL champions after beating Virtus.pro 3-0 in the grand final of Season 1 (1-0 default, 16-12 on de_train and de_overpass).

The final day of the PGL Season 1 finals began with an out-of-form fnatic trying to get back on track after looking way off the pace during the opening rounds of the Romanian tournament.

The Cologne champions' opponent was none other than Virtus.pro, who had dropped to the Lower Bracket after being downed by TSM 2-0 in the Upper Bracket final. The Polish team were in control for most of the series, picking up a 2-0 victory after securing back-to-back 16-12 wins on de_train and de_dust2.

Virtus.pro then moved on to the grand final seeking to exert revenge on TSM for Saturday's defeat. Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's men knew, however, that they had a mountain to climb as the Danes enjoyed a 1-0 lead due to coming from the Upper Bracket.

The match began on de_train, where Virtus.pro looked the livelier of both sides during the early stages, twice taking three-round leads. However, a four-kill round by Finn "karrigan" Andersen in the 10th round put TSM back in the game and powered the Danish team to overcome the deficit and close out the half up 8-7.

In the second half, Virtus.pro crawled back into the game after losing the pistol round, but TSM kept their composure and secured a 16-12 victory after a series of close rounds.

TSM win their second PGL trophy

Next up was de_overpass, where TSM came out the brighter and picked up the opening three rounds as Terrorist. Virtus.pro then equalised the score with three rounds of their own, but the Danes remained in control and brought the scoreline to 9-6.  Now playing on the CT side, TSM grew their lead by winning the pistol round following a successful retake in the A site.

The Danish team were then caught off-guard in the first anti-eco, with Virtus.pro adding the next two rounds to their tally to make it 9-10. The threat of a massive comeback loomed large, but TSM closed their defensive lines really well and won six of the next nine rounds to seal a 16-12 victory and a memorable campaign on Romanian soil.

flusha not performing is holding fnatic back right now. I understand that pronax needs a break at times, but when he does not even put up great frag numbers and flusha suffers, it brings down the whole team.

I wish you alot more victories to come, and as long as you prepare and train as you do now, im sure you guys can become and defend the title as best team in the world. Dupreeh has for me been very impressive lately, and this time around he really showcased why he could be considered one of the best all around players in the world

AMEN to that. 40k is 40k regardless of prestige and number of wins in various tournaments (even small ones) has a meaning. It might attract more sponsors for TSM players. IMO people are just jealous and have to diminish someone else's achievements. Major is a major, but money and victories don't start and end with a major.

Yeah money is money and titles are titles even minor ones, people don't acknowledge that, atleast not on this forum. "they always win small tournaments no one cares about, they never win majors" Well, i don't get people saying that, TSM are to win a major at some point, no doubt about it.. and at this tournament they beat the two teams who have won most majors. Fnatic once and VP twice, without losing a single map. And even though this wasn't a major, we still had 3 teams from the top 4 attending.

Yeah, it's true. Also that guy was doing a lot of trash talking. I just came back from the venue where PGL was hosted and i saw everybody in the backstage. Fnatic were really disappointed that they went out of the tournament like this. If they didn't care, why would they be so disappointed? Also VP were actually hoping to with this as well. After the final ended, they were giving autographs and you could tell that they were pretty mad that they've lost. Unfortunately, TSM are indeed a bit arrogant at the moment or at least Xyp9x, Device and Dupreeh. Karrigan and CajunB seem to keep it real though.

Just watch their recent interviews. Sure that lubricant joke was funny, but I wouldn't do it to VP. Also, they used to be much more humble both in front of the cameras and the audience. Device now thinks that they're going to win the major but they've still got a long way to go. They have to prove that they can beat Envy, then think about the major. They seem to think that now that they've proven themselves they have the right to be cocky. I'm a TSM fan no matter what and I stick to me belief that they've been the best team in the world in the period between Katowice and Cologne and right now they have the opportunity to get to the number one spot again. But if they don't keep it real I don't see them going too far during the upcoming major.

I don't really agree on all of it, If they constantly beat the top teams and are top 2, they should be confident, I don't think they are cocky, it's just confidence and why shouldn't they be confident, they have been playing great CS. If I was playing any competitive sport and I didn't go into every game and every event with the thought that I could and should win, that would be the day I quit. If I didn't believe i could win, there was no point in it, the same goes for all of the top teams, they want to win and they believe they can do that. TSM is together with EnVy the most confident teams right now, you could put VP in their too, they have alot of confidence right now aswell. And it's totally understandable that it would be a disappointment for device (He have been playing out of his mind since early this year) and a disappointment for the team it self if they won't reach a major final this year, with the way they've played the last half a year or so.

Well I'm not saying that they should always be humble, I really like Karrigan's attitude for example. But he's also very experienced, you can never tell what's in his mind. He's not emotional in any way, or at least not in a way that you can tell. And that's why ever since he came in they really started to own everybody. What I'm saying is that if they become cocky or have high expectations, they will break emotionally and will return to their past 'performances'. They should keep it real. There's a difference between having a winner's mentality and shifting towards being cocky. They've finally got that winner mentality, although it still needs some polishing and some cockiness won't do the job. I don't find Envy to be more confident than TSM and that's because Kenny and for some reason apex. I mean Kenny knows that he's still a shadow of his former self, even though right now he is doing better. But apex looked really confident during his first games with EnvyUs but he's been quite shaky lately and NBK and Happy hat to step it up once again. EnvyUs manage to beat TSM because they are the only team in the world who manage to out aim TSM. Still, the skill level on both teams is very close, but EnvyUs have a slight edge. VP are a mentally strong team as well but when they become emotional they collapse completely. And once again, if device has these high expectations and he won't get what he wants, he's gonna become really frustrated and this 'device era' as Thorin calls it will only last weeks. All I can say is that I hope that they have a plan for the major.

Xyp9x too good. So many clueless people on HLTV who made replace him threads. Defintiely the most underrated player atm, so many impact frags on clutches per match in average especially in big matches. GGWP TSM

they need to heal their relationship with byali or he will sabotage their upcoming major - you can see in todays broadcast when he dies and vp win = byali sad, very bad sign. he needs more love and encouragement, the pressure was too much for him PGL final and i watched this player spiral into negetivity. not all his fault, i've been there, too.

When you look at each teams current form it should be: 1. TSM 2. VP/nV 3. Fnatic (recently out of form but still overall no.1) 3. I would say NaVi but some might say NiP. It's just personal top3 right at this moment with current teams form. It is not overall top3. Everyone has their own top 3 but all these 4/5 teams are best out there. GG to TSM well deserved 1st place as well as GG to VP as they are playing really well recently with few bad games.

Just wanna point out you used the same scorescreen for both matches, VP vs Fnatic and FP vs TSM. It shows TSM 3-0 VP twice.
