fnatic send Cloud9 packing

fnatic have booked a place in the last-eight stage of DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca after seeing off Cloud9 2-0 (16-6 on de_dust2 and 16-12 on de_overpass).

The first map of this best-of-three series was de_dust2, Cloud9's choice, and it was the North American side who came out the brighter of the two, picking up the pistol round and the following two anti-ecos to start off the game with a 3-0 lead.

When fnatic bought up, the tide shifted a full 180 degrees as the Swedes picked up nine of the next ten rounds to bring the scoreline to 9-4 in their favor. Cloud9 then won the final two rounds of the half to reduce the deficit to three rounds and keep their comeback hopes alive.

However, things went from bad to worse for Cloud9 in the second half as fnatic grew their lead by winning the opening three rounds. Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek came close to winning the first gun round on his own by holding down the A site with the bomb planted, but he was taken down by Markus "⁠pronax⁠" Wallsten with just seconds on the clock. With no money in the bank and a huge deficit to recover from, the North American side would lose the map without taking a single round in the half.

Next up was de_overpass, where Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert came up huge in the pistol round as he picked up three kills on 5HP before being taken down by the final fnatic player. The two anti-eco rounds then went to fnatic, but Cloud9 responded in the first gun round following some solid defensive work in the A site.

Cloud9 then restored parity at 3-3 but they were unable to hold on to a sizeable lead as the two teams traded a couple of rounds. The North American side would dominate the late stages of the half, bringing the score to 9-6 in their favor thanks to a series of great rounds from Sean "⁠seang@res⁠" Gares.

fnatic came out the livelier from the restart and strung five rounds together to overcome the deficit. Cloud9 then picked up two rounds straight to equalise the game at 11-11 and break fnatic's economy, but once the Swedish team recovered they never lost control of the game again.

Yes NiP is better than Cloud9 sure, NiP is a very difficult team to play against if you are underdog , I rarely saw them playing poorly in the group stage, do you think the pressure is higher during a match against NiP or C9? About Fnatic and VP, I believe that it is difficult to compare both teams, most caster had predicted a stronger VP than fnatic for this major due to recent results, I disagree, I believe that fnatic has always been the best team in the championship. Another thing I must remind you that at the start of Liquid match they dominated 90% of the time VP, and have had some bad plays in order, lacked a little luck to them , while on the LG vs fnatic in a bid to lucky the game was decided in the end. Due to the recent results of Liquid they have much more individual strength than LG , you'll see this in the next four lan championships that are coming. On a side note, I really loved c9 getting out on group stage again. They don't take the game serious enough to deserve a spot as legends. Anyway.. about PRONET, is just because some teams suffer at lan with some things.. respect a lot the oponents, play bad with other pc/monitor that they aren't familiarize or just have less expirence in key moments.. At the first major of Liquid, it's quite common that happens. But GA, C9 and CLG already is common opponents to Liquid. Im sure that USA lan events, they'll do a good job
