IEM San Jose viewer's guide

We have prepared a viewer's guide for IEM San Jose, where eight of teams will battle it out in a single-elimination bracket.

The SAP Center indoor arena, commonly known as "The Shark Tank", will play host to the North American Intel Extreme Masters stop, where eight Counter-Strike teams will pit their wits in a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket.

The initial $100,000 prize pool has been increased by $25,000 through a partnership with Amazon, the official retail sponsor of the event, but the figure will continue to rise due to a crowdfunding deal with the online retail company.

The SAP Center will host IEM San Jose

On Wednesday, ESL announced a last-minute change to the list of participants as EnVyUs withdrew from the tournament, citing travel safety concerns following last week's terrorist attack in Paris. The DreamHack Cluj champions will be replaced by CLG, who will face G2 in the quarter-finals.

The English language broadcast of IEM San Jose will be brought by a panel with several esports personalities, including former Titan member Mathieu "⁠Maniac⁠" Quiquerez, who will sit at the analysts' desk, Joe Miller and Jason "⁠moses⁠" O'Toole. The full on-air team for the event is the following:

timezones can very well be helped. for example: if ur gonna host it in NA, just host it on the fuckin east coast then, dickheads! start first game at 10 am local time, not a huge problem for euros. now what he said about 'quality of gamers' is kind of a weak argument. however, u can make quite a strong argument for the sake of the orga that hosts the event itself: 'quantity of viewers'.

They could host on the east coast, I suppose. I was speaking from within the context of it being hosted on the west coast. I would like an event on the east coast(one that isn't in the Midwest), but it hasn't happened yet. No matter what however, it still is annoying to some groups of people. As far as quantity of viewers goes, I am uncertain as to how much of a difference will be made as quite a few viewers are gained from the west coast, and it's likely not the case that all viewers within unfavorable time zones will not watch.

No, she really isn't. Actually shes quite fucking bad, always yelling. Her play by play is fine but she has no grasp of what is actually going on in the game, and to be honest yelling out whats going on as it happens only requires a little skill as it is. I guess the issue isn't that shes bad, its that there are better casters who deserve her spot more, but she gets the spots because orgs want to show they are "progressive".

what a load of crap. obviously she is a pure pbp caster, whereas RoF and faceit really are pbp and color or at least can do both if need be. however, she is a solid pbp caster and it will work out just fine with the right color caster as her knowledge really is good enuff to understand what he would say and what questions to ask him and both moses and henryG are excellent for the job. she may be hired to a degree for her gender, but that was by esl and has nothing to do with the event itself. like with every esl event: they bring esl casters and crying about faceit duo or whatever hardly makes sense.

nah thats not true. semmler and the faceit guys both are all somewhat smart people (semmler made me question him with the shit he said about swag though) that are so deep into everything cs related, all th scenes, all the teams and all the tourneys that they always have something useful to say. ´white james even has a yt channel where he puts up quite decent analysis videos every once in a while. and u can put any of those guys on an analysis desk at any given time and they will have useful things to say that make sense.

i never said they weren't smart... but its very clear that if u watch their live casting they never have in-depth commentary.. I also doubt your ability to understand the game based on your opinion of how they "analyze". The shit they say on the analysis desk is also trash... especially for how long they've been casting CS:GO... DDK is half decent but James clearly doesn't have in depth knowledge of game play (map control, counter strategies, the way rounds play out)... they never have a answer for how a team should start approaching a match while the match is being played.

i dont expect in depth analysis. nobody does that. henryG to a degree at times but thats it. i expect that they see details at times at least in terms of equipment for example and that what they say makes sense. even if its kinda basic things most of the time, at least it has to be correct and it usually is.
