fnatic scrape win over Virtus.pro

fnatic came from behind to beat Virtus.pro 2-1 and progress to the grand final of the FACEIT League Stage 3 Finals (11-16 on de_mirage, 16-10 on de_inferno and 16-9 on de_cache)

fnatic came out of the gate looking fierce on de_mirage and won the pistol round without losing a single man. A triple kill from Filip "NEO" Kubski in the first eco round gave the Swedes a scare, and the Polish veteran repeated the feat in the following round, this time giving Virtus.pro their first round on the board.

The Polish team held on and took a string of rounds to bring the scoreline to 5-2, but fnatic gave a fantastic account of themselves during the final stages of the half, winning six of the following eight rounds to take an 8-7 lead.

The second half began with fnatic locking down both bombsites during the pistol round, but they were left frustrated in the first anti-eco round as Virtus.pro put their Desert Eagles to work. The Polish team added the following three rounds to their tally to bring the scoreline to 11-9 before a crucial quad kill from Jesper "JW" Wecksell on a force buy kept fnatic's hopes alive. However, the tide never swung in fnatic's favour and they struggled to keep Virtus.pro at bay, with the Polish side cruising to a 16-11 victory.

Neo was on fire on de_mirage

Map #2 was de_inferno, fnatic's pick, and here the Swedish team put up a fairly solid defense during the first half. The rounds Virtus.pro edged out were few and far between, with the half ending well in the Swedes' favour, 13-2.

Virtus.pro kept their composure in the second half and took two strings of rounds to bring the scoreline to 10-14, but then fnatic clinched two rounds straight to the level the series 1-1 as the teams move to de_cache.

JW opened up the decisive map with a fantastic ace in the pistol round, with fnatic following it up with two anti-eco rounds to start off the game with a 3-0 lead. After buying up, Virtus.pro were able to win two rounds straight to reduce the gap to just one round, but then fnatic ran riot and won eight of the next 10 rounds to take an 11-4 halftime lead.

fnatic advance to the grand final

fnatic piled more misery on Virtus.pro by winning the first three rounds of the second half to get within touching distance of victory. Virtus.pro knew that hey had a mountain to climb to turn this around, but that did not keep them from trying.

The Polish team tightened up their defense and won five rounds straight to reduce the deficit to 9-14, but that is when Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer picked up the AWP and went huge in the following two rounds to give fnatic a hard-fought 2-1 victory.

how he exactly fucked up cache? because he gave ak to olof? vp as a team fucked themselves in round 8, when it was 4-3 for fnatic and they had only 2 rifles, krimz with 20hp on a site killed 2 vp players with only p250 without kevlar and this round was the key round same on inferno, krimz also won 1vs3 when it was 2-1 for fnatic, if vp didnt throw this rounds they would win, i dont see pasha fault there, ofc he failed 1 round but it didnt matter

thats why neo is almost everytime bottomfragging .. right :) snax and byali are the best and most important players of vp ,thats why when these two are on point they win, then comes neo/pasha

kills dont show who did the most for the team(atleast in pro matches). Xip9x for example is one of the MVPs of TSM but he gets not much from the spotlight since hes not topfragging most of the times.

Yup. Pretty good tournament, although wish we could see more maps from them against other teams. They bossed a decent Liquid team so hard it wasn't even funny. And we see once again they got knocked out in the semifinals of a big tournament by eventual champions fnatic (this is a recurring theme and it fucking sucks being a VP fan). If it just wasn't for this fnatic matchup it really seems like VP would have had as many as 3, 4, or even 5 more top tier tournament wins in the last year and half or so. They match up against every other top team so well, even though they do have their occasional weird Bo3 losses to teams like G2 and mouz. I actually would have liked to see them try not to play Cache against fnatic in the veto... VP hasn't looked great on Cache for a long time. This was their biggest mistake, thinking they could beat fnatic on Cache might have cost them winning this FaceIt title IMO. Same thing with Luminosity, I think they made a tiny mistake picking Cobble instead of Mirage against fnatic in the grand final. But hey hindsight is 20/20, I know, I'm just a random observer, what do I know :P 2016 will be fun. And VP should be relatively happy with their 2015 run (although I know their goal is always to be Top1, it's tough). As far as 2015 went fnatic were the best overall clearly, but just behind them VP were right up there along with TSM and nV overall. Look at esports earnings and tournament finishes over the year. They have been one of the true elite Top4 teams since IEM Katowice in early 2014, and even considering a few little slumps here and there they never truly left that elite status. There is a reason VP has been ranked so highly in many of the "Power Rankings" even though they get a bit weirdly disrespected by large sections of the HLTV/CSGO community. Again, check all the big 2015 results and compare with the other "elite" teams if you doubters don't get what I'm saying.
