Luminosity win MAX5 Invitational

Luminosity cement their status as the region's best with a dominant 3-0 defeat of Keyd Stars in the MAX5 Invitational grand finals (16-4 on de_cache, 16-2 on de_mirage, and 16-11 on de_cbble).

Taking place inside of the Mega Arena X5 in São Paulo, the MAX5 Invitational brought together nine Brazilian teams and one Argentinian team in a five day long South American duel to determine the region's best.

The group stage saw a few notable teams fail to make the playoffs of the event, such as Raphael "cogu" Camargo's INTZ, Lucas "steel" Lopes's CNB, and perhaps most surprisingly a Games Academy team that included Ricardo "boltz" Prass.

Luminosity win in São Paulo

In the playoffs of MAX5, it was g3x and Caio "zqkS" Fonseca's AlienTech that fell aside (AlienTech won the third place decider), meaning that the final face-off would be between the tournament favourites Luminosity and Keyd Stars.

Luminosity, who are currently ranked seventh in the world in our official team ranking, had a breeze for most of the best-of-five grand final against Keyd Stars, whose lineup included Renato "nak" Nakano, the previous coach for Luminosity.

After a 16-4 win on de_cache and a 16-2 destruction on de_mirage against Keyd, Luminosity went up 14-1 on the third map of de_cbble before Keyd Stars finally showed some signs of life in the game and began to claw their way back. In the end however, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo and his men got the final two rounds and won the map 16-11.

Nope, Brazilians always had a better infra structure, we had more championships, we had more spondored e-sport clubs, not in the level of NA but still better than ARG. I believe they can do better if companies start to be interested in CS GO as in Brazil

yes, 2 of 4 br teams just fucked up us, but did you see the chileans teams? almost every time an argentinian team play against a chilean team, the argentinian win, there's a "mini cup" playing right now, where argentinian teams are making trash to the chileans, literally I think everytime thay play against chileans they won 16-0 or 16-2 , if I can get the link, i'll post it

they delayed a bunch of games, in group phase there was games being delayed for 1 hour, others for 40 minutes, and the first games of yesterday and today started almost 1 hour with delay, but it wasnt much noticeable since hltv org kept changing the time of the matchs accordingly

i am not comparing 2 tournament, i am just stating that max5 had delays unlike these guys saying it didnt had delays, brazilian tournament is far from being gr8, shitty stream quality and constant freezes (they used shitty rig for controlling cameras and counter strike), a lot of interference in microphones (high pitch tones) in the analizers, shitty streaming platform, this max5 had little delays but far from being perfect like tier1 tournaments that only has like 20 minutes of delay because of the analyzing table, other thing i didnt like is that in the first 3 days instead of showing the players that won last round they leave counter strike on the screen in the freeze time (first thing u learn on art classes is using the space and in cases of videos and streams uses the space and the time and for me showing the game in the freezetime makes the stream a bit boring) and since there was a lot of international sponsors the prize money where shitty too (they had to depend on brazilian company to double the prize pool for first and second place) considering the amount of viewers in stream and in venue, reaching 20-25% in the finals what tier1 tournaments achieve (not including majors) overall tournament was good for brazil level but if they want to start showing this to the world they should start at hiring english casters and analizers to be at the venue and overcome streaming problems

Just small delays, like all LANs. The other events organized by X5 had 2 or 3 hours of delay. I didn't expect a tournament so well organised.

kikooo took part as commentator in the first day. It was kinda cool, but also, very noticeable that he was out of the game for quite some time, he didn't understand very much of new csgo style and strats.

I missed the first day. He shouldn't have back to CS scene imo, last time he tried a comeback, sucked pretty hard, and blamed spacca for their poor performance on IEM Finals in 2009, such a cheap excuse. Now he's not a player, he also don't know shit what's happening because he don't follow CS:GO, he just don't have any reasons to be there anymore.

I dont think he is trying to comeback, he is finishing med school and has no intentions to be a player again imo, maybe as a investor for some team but that's it. His being there is for fans I think, I watched mibr win eswc via hltv, and for me, as a 1.6 player it was very cool to see him again, even commentating.

I doubt that. Considering the investors in br cs scene, the prizepool is more than expected. Going forward, I do expect these values to increase, because i think yesterday and today they manage to sold out.

Expected winner, but still a very important event to brazilian CS and a bit to SA. Hoping to see more of these, even when LG and GA are not in Brazil. Gratz for all people involved

Cogu's team had pretty weak riflers. The one trying the hardest was fpg and he went ham. cogu himself had some brilliant 3k or 2k rounds but he wasn't as clutch as I expected him to. I feel bad for G3X. YeL is a fucking beast and they probably didn't make it over KeyD because tifa didn't play. Brazil needs more of these LANs. These teams can improve if they stick around.

G3X will never go far with knight and maeda. I bet INTZ and CNB will replace some of their players in some months. Give 6 months and we will have a decent scene in brazil. A lot of players coming back now.
