FalleN: "We will not replace TACO"

Luminosity Gaming veteran Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo has ruled out the possibility of replacing teammate Tacio "TACO" Filho.

The 21-year-old has come under heavy criticism since joining Luminosity in November for not being able to put in as many frags as his teammates.

With an overall rating of 0.94, Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo was the worst rated player on Luminosity at each of the five events he has attended with the team, who are currently ranked sixth in the world.

FalleN leaps to TACO's defense

At DreamHack Open Leipzig, he was the only Luminosity player to post a below-average rating, but Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo insists that the team will not not waste time paying attention to critics.

"Guys, we will not replace anyone on the team," Toledo wrote on Facebook. "TACO is a young kid, with a lot of potential and skill.

"Just like fnx, cold, fer and me, he is very good at some things and not so good at other things.

"He is a key part of the team and he does his job exemplarily. CS is more than stats and positive K/D difference.

"Besides, we have never been this strong. Our team is great, and we are on the right track.

"Enough with the rumours and the stupid comments, if you like our team then support us."

Luminosity are set to go back to North America, but they will return to Europe in little over a month, to attend the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship, in Katowice, from March 2-6.

You do realise you have no idea about the game right? Hes entry for 15 rounds, but this doesnt change the fact that his ct side is bad aswell and on ct its about holding the line and clutching the rounds, and everyone with 10% game understanding could see in any match of LG that his position is the weakness of them. Hes just not good enough yet... I see his potential but he needs more time in lower tier teams to gain expirience

Also the guy is their entry fragger. He takes the brunt of damage when entering bombsite's and still likely to get a kill before dying. People to this day still dont understand ingame roles. Thats exactly it.. maybe ingame leading is harder but entry fragging is very important for winning T side rounds. If you have a weak entry fragger then more than likely its going to be 4 vs 5 every round then you are relying heavily on your second entry guys and lurker/clutch players. Remember NiP when they were so dominant? friberg was taking down 1 or 2 guys everytime they would execute on a site. Now the guy cant get 1 kill and its up to their second entries to make multiple kills otherwise they go to shit. Taco at the moment is doing just fine. If he can get just 1 kill or enough damage that he teammates can trade instantly then there is no problem. Man LG right now is really exciting to watch. They hit the top10 now top5 is looking real good.

That last point is the important part. An entry fragger doesn't necessarily have to get the kill, as long as he sets up his teammates to trade. 4v4 heavily favors the T side, because you are typically going to now be executing 4v2, 4v1, or 3v2/1 + your lurker which should catching the rotation. An entry fragger with a negative K/D can still be doing his job effectively.

Hen1 is a better AWP than fallen without a doubt. You can't drop a rifle to pick up a second AWP. Fallen is the IGL for the teach, yeah, but making him coach and getting a young and obviously super talented AWP would be really good for LG.

You must be one of those idiots that think coaching and being the IGL will have the same impact on a team, or that they will only benefit from such a move. Ingame FalleN plays with experience and intelligence compared to most other brazilian players. That is something that is also needed. Is he a better player than hen1, of course he is. So there is no reason to "demote" him to being the coach. The game is a lot more than just talent and speed. Though from what I have seen FalleN is still the best awp player in Brazil.

Yeah so? NiP masterer the game early while other teams struggled. Everyone had the same opportunities when csgo came out, and NiP suceeded the best. Other teams then used NiP to figure out the game and pretty much every team tried to counterstrat NiP. my definition is really simple, achievements. Astralis has achieved far more than LG has. LG has not won anything of importans yet so therefore are not considered a tier 1 team just like Astralis weren't considered a tier 1 team back when they couldnt win titels. in my book i think you cant call a team a clear tier 1 team before they win something of importans. im not the only one who says this. vendetta even said it him self at dreamhack. when astralis was dignitas back in 2014 no one ever called them a tier 1 team before they actually won something important. i think good achievments determines what a tier 1 team is. i think astralis winning 5 good tournaments in 2015 gives them the right to be called a tier 1 team. its true that they definitely dont perform like one lately just like VP doesnt but LG has not won anything that gives them the right to be called a clear tier 1 team though they definitely play much better than astralis and vp do at the moment.

Games Academy, a team that is maybe top 2/3 in brazilian scene is a really good team and they are going to be in the next major. Terrible idea. If TACO should be replaced by anyone (which he shouldn't be atm, he's doing fine, just needs more experience and know-how in certain situations), it should be felps or one of the better players from the other teams like KeyD. Whilst Hen1 is a sick player and awper, he isn't what they need. FalleN can already AWP extremely well and doubles up as an IGL who's very good at bringing the best out of his players. We don't even know how Hen1 would perform against the best teams. If TACO performs poorly for the next couple of months and they decide to replace him, it should be a rifle player.

TACO is playing entry fragger so it's pretty obvious that he will have a bit lower K/D ratio than the others. He is doing the dirty job.

i said this once and im gonna say it again: taco is a massive pillar in the team, his role is difficult though. if anyone who critized him watched any of the luminosity games and had his brain activated at the same time, he should see what taco is doing for the team: taco is often left alone on bombsites, especially if fallen decides to go aggro, he needs 1 maybe 2 rifles with him, which usually is fnx or fer and cold holding the other flank. for example overpass: fallen is near fountain or balloons, looking for an early pick, fer or fnx holding from bathrooms and fer or fnx in connector, cold on long. that leaves taco on b. on train its the same, taco on inner bombsite, rest holding outer, you see this setup more than once in a match. now to his role, which is the most difficult in the team. all he needs to do is to drop his smoke on one entrance of the bombsite, kill 1-2 guys and give as much information as possible. Thats hard. first of all he needs to get his timing right to get more than 1 kill, he needs to watch 2 bombsite entrances and watch out to not get popflashed + there is no one to tradekill or popflash for him, so he is constantly in a 1vX situation, where X is more than 1 enemy, so either he dies real quick, or he is the last man to rotate to the other bombsite, which is equally hard when your team has less players left than the other. due to his naturally passive playstyle its really hard for him to grow fast in that team, but i would not go far and call him bad, its a cliche that people start saying "he needs time" and normally i would shake my head, but in his case its the truth, he really needs time, the skill is there, but you cant outfrag everyone when you have massively skilled players like cold,fer and fnx on your team, taco is not the clutch superstar, but he gets the frags that he needs to get and here and there his talent shines through, he can get a triple or quadkill and then his kills really look calm, collected and fast at the same time. so.. if most people say he is bad, than i just say: most people dont know shit about the game on this high level. in fact, most people are idiots anyway... like, what the fuck do you want from these boys? this lineup exists for a couple of weeks now and they already beat the biggest teams on the planet, so basically what you noobs say is: as long as they are not the unbeaten number one, they have to swap the player with the lowest kd?? THATS YOUR WAY OF THINKING? im so sick of this noob-hivemind, experts should not let themselves influence by this, so shoutout to fallens loyalty, you really are the mentor and backbone of LG. i already said 1 year ago that luminosity has massive potential and all they have to change is to add a bit more firepower and i also said that e-frag.net has the same potential, they need the same change, cause spyleader is the same type of genius that fallen is. mark my words. write it down.

You just explained what playing suppport consists. But what matches did you watch? TACO gets fuckin backshotted when holding one angle due to his bad gamesense, can t keep back the T's for a few secs and his max kills when holding a site are 0 to max 1. If you want to compare players in the same role as him, watch krimz, nbk or xyp9x.

I partially agree with you. His CT play is defo his worst, has a bit to improve. His T play is actually good though, even if he doesn't get the kill. He often plays a fantastic distraction. Then cold/fer/fnx sweep in and take over.

it's not about stats, taco doesn't have gamesense at all. He gets backshotted when fuckin playing support alone in a site on ct (still can't figure out how can he be this level bad) and his entry frags are shit (fer has double % of entry kills than him).

I can agree only ur point fer is better at entry. fer has the best aim in his team and he is good at making entry frag extremely. Taco lacks so many points including so many non-pro players can judge as bad play. But he is playing what the team want him to do totally like fallen said. I know Taco have done shit so many times but fallen said like that and they are their best just now in their history . so we shouldn't talk shit if we hope their best luck and improvement.

Honestly, +1 Also people who says Fallen should be replaced (I know, it's unbelievable, but I've seen it several times now) with Hen1 are out of their minds. He is the mastermind of the team in so many ways. Also AWPs fantastically. Without him LG wouldn't be at this level or for that matter even be known. Or Brazilian CS in this era. I have much respect for what he has done and he's also a very nice guy from what I can see.

Every country has talents, but what really makes a good team is the strats, teamplay, a mastermind to coordinate the team to victory with a champion mentality. to be honest, there no other person like fallen in br scene, no good captain with so much knowledge about the game. If fallen retire for some reason, brazil CS would go back 10 years in time.

Yeah, that's Gamers Academy, his development project. He sponsors players to play under GA (don't think they get a salary but I think he funds travel, etc) so that when they start to shine they will be picked up by an established organisation. The current GA roster is very good. They should be picked up by a NA org fairly soon, especially if they make it to the major, which they have a reasonable chance of doing. And yeah, TACO and fnx played for GA before being called up for LG. Booltz went back down to GA.

Why should they relace him? He holds nearly every site alone, so the other 3 or 4 guys can Focus on the "main" site. In that first lan he had 1-2 beast maps, he still had lowest rating and was bellow 1.0 ((: if LG wants to be a title contender they need to look for better options and give taco some more time in GA or g3x or keyd stars or alientech.br to get more expirience.. Is there any better option then taco in brazil? Destiny? Felps? Shoowtime? Im not that familiar with brazilian cs but i saw felps play once and he seemed really really good? Btw, stop trying to look smart.. Yes he is entryfager (probably) but theres a CT side aswell and you can easily see where the weak part of LG is in their hold! Always the excuses of entryfragger... He sure is but on CT he has to be there for holds and clutches and he simply isnt...
