G2 win another one over C9

Repeating their Group B opener match, G2 have taken down Cloud9 albeit this time with a score of 2-0 and advance as higher seed into the quarter-finals (16-3 on de_cache and 16-11 on de_train).

After G2 beat Cloud9 in a fairly close Group B opening game that saw overtime go down on the first map and that went to a 2-1 scoreline, the two teams both met again in the group decider match to determine quarter-finals seeding.

The first map was not much of a contest as the French-Belgian team absolutely plowed Cloud9 on de_cache with a 16-3 scoreline that was mainly determined by the Canadian-American team unable to execute a successful bomb take on their T-side.


Ex6TenZ led and fragged in tandem on the second day of Game Show

de_train showed potential for Cloud9 as strong performances from Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek and Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip saw the team finish their CT half with a 10-5 lead and at one point extend it to an 11-9 scoreline.

However, that was the furthest the game would go as impeccable defense from Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans and his men (who himself has been in peak performance mode this tournament) shut down the map 16-11 for G2.

As a result the quarter-finals will see EnVyUs take on Cloud9 at 10:00 whereas G2 will play CLG at 13:00 to determine the two teams who will move on to the semifinals to play the Danes of Astralis and dignitas.

No, as Astralis will choke like in every other semi-finals. G2 vs EnVyUs would be far more exciting considering current form and history both teams share. Interestingly, dignitas has a big chance on reaching grand finals.
