Optimum win RGN European Open II
Danish team Optimum have triumphed over RCTIC eSports to win first place and $2,000 in the RGN European Open II with a score of 3-0 (16-12 on de_mirage and 16-12 on de_dust2, with a one map advantage).
The RGN European Open II was announced in late December and promised up to $3,200 in prize-money for the top three finishing teams in a 32 team online, double elimination bracket.
The bracket stage saw teams such as Epiphany Bolt, KILLERFISH, and Publiclir fall to the wayside whereas the number-one seeded E-frag.net forfeited their fourth round Lower Bracket match following a surprise loss to Team YP in the Upper Bracket quarter-finals.
It was the Danish team Optimum who powered through to the grand final where they awaited the winner of a consolidation match between Team YP and RCTIC, which the Finns won.
Possessing a one map advantage, Optimum were able to grind out two map wins on de_mirage and de_dust2 with 16-12 scores and thereby won the tournament and took home $2,000.
Optimum's lineup is:
Wisti "zEptonL" Holst
Dennis "sycrone" Nielsen
Daniel "mertz" Mertz
Michael "granzales" Troelsen
Ismail "refrezh" Ali
The team are currently on the lookout for sponsors ahead of their planned attendance of the Nordic Masters and they can be reached at [email protected].
