DAVEY: "NA [struggle] is a myth"

After SPLYCE became the first North American team at the MLG Columbus Main Qualifier to qualify for the $1 million MLG Columbus Major, we had a talk with David 'DAVEY' Stafford of the team.

SPLYCE overcame, or perhaps benefitted from, numerous situations to become the first North American team to make the Major, e.g. TheMongolz's visa issues and the inability of their replacements to attend the Qualifier as well as victories over CLG and Vexed.

First and foremost however, the team played textbook momentum-based Counter-Strike and were able to secure their Major qualification with much celebration and ballyhooing.

HLTV.org spoke to David "⁠DAVEY⁠" Stafford, the newest addition to the Dogmen core after he left Method, on SPLYCE's achievement.

Either way no one can take credit for their scene as they've done fuck all to contribute to making it great apart from the pros... So it's irrelevant anyway. How does that make me stupid? I just used the UK as an example lol. And I don't entirely agree with what you're saying. While yeah, individuals can't take credit, they can support THEIR individual country, not the entire continent as a whole, since a majority of EU has a nonexistent cs scene. The reason NA is bashed so much is because of the constant "NA shuffle" that occurs, that always stirs up controversy and makes teams less able to settle down and work as a fully functional team, which leads to poor performances. n0thing said it well, he said it's easy for smaller countries in EU to build a super team, as opposed to NA that has so many teams that it's constantly a fight to get the best players on the best rosters, plus 4 of some of the best NA legends have been banned

I never understood this argument. How many players are aiming to be pros? These pro teams are just recycling the same list of players for the most part and it happens that the better players on this list is from EU. It's not like throwing money at it will instantly change their talent and allow them to challenge the top teams. And arguably some of NA's best talents were banned. If fnatic was banned then their top team would only be NiP, which aren't really playing top tier CS atm either.

It's not a myth lmao and everyone has agreed they have struggled real hard when in several majors they have lost to tier2 EU teams when their region offers even more support for the teams. So no NA struggle IS real as the best NA teams are struggling to even get in a major.

because NA has had a lot of disadvantages in csgo, despite what you want to believe. people treat NA like they should be equal or better than EU, which is ridiculous when you consider the full history of CS, and the gaming culture in NA NA is still pretty easily the 5th/6th best country in CS in terms of overall accomplishments, 1. sweden 2. france 3. denmark 4. CIS/navi 5. poland 6. usa/canada 7. brazil and if you count all the EU teams together as one region, then it's more like 3-4th, which isn't THAT bad also consider by FAR the best team in NA in iBuyPower having 2-3 of the top NA players banned clown9 still finished 2nd at 3 pretty big tournaments in a row, iBuyPower had a 2nd at faceit just before the bans it's not as bad as you'd like to make it out to be

nobody is saying that NA is as bad that they cannot upset some serious teams, but they are literally bad if u consider their opportunities in terms of being a full time gamers while not even qualifying for majors and ever get near the top 8 for example. aswell as having a huge pool of players and (obviously) no language barriers if you wanna compare NA pool to 2 dozen of different languages. long story short, you got the infrastructure, you got the player pool, you got enough teams spending big $$$ for lots of players going fulltime cs and they have rarely achieved anything despite some short spark for C9 aswell as for iBP.
