WRTP win Intel Challenge Katowice

European conglomerate team WRTP have won the Intel Challenge Katowice over North American rivals CLG Red with a 2-0 score (16-10 on de_mirage and 16-8  on de_cache).

For those still looking to get their fix of Counter-Strike action at IEM Katowice, the Intel Challenge Katowice tournament featured eight female teams dueling for $30,000 across two days of group stage play and a single elimination playoff bracket.

The group stages for the Intel Challenge saw most of the heavy hitting favourites advance such as CLG Red and WRTP alongside scrappy contenders Karma and LDLC fe.

zAAz and WRTP took home gold at the Intel Challenge

The semifinals featured an intense North American thriller between CLG Red and Karma as two maps went to overtime, but it was ultimately Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey & co. who triumped 2-1 and advanced to the grand final. The other side of the playoff bracket saw WRTP convincingly trump LDLC fe 2-0 with little problems.

With three of the current members on WRTP having won the Intel Challenge in Katowice in 2015, the Swedish-Russian-Hungarian-Danish team set about defending their title with a 12-3 CT half on de_mirage. Despite Christine "potter" Chi and crew almost clawing their way back into a comeback scenario, the European team closed out the first map 16-10.

On de_cache, the story was more one of WRTP's control as Zainab "zAAz" Turkie played a big part in her team's victorious 16-8 win to thereby take home first place and a $15,000 check.

If there weren't female competitions we wouldn't see any female teams competing. As there are so much less women playing this game, their level is far behind at the moment.

Not to mention that female tournaments still bring in viewers, so it is still profitable for the various tournament holders to have a female tournament. Which is awesome for the female scene, which pretty much always has been too small, but also too secluded for their own good.

Competitive gaming is a male dominated market. That means that 50% of the market remains untapped. Sponsors know if girls play games equally as much as males they could potentially double their sales. So, sponsors create female only tournaments to make it easy for girls to compete. This brings awareness and visibility to girls playing e-sports. Now you know why there are female only tournies. They don't take money away from male tournies, because they aren't focused on getting attention from male gamers. It's a long process, but of course the end goal is more girls playing video games. Which is good for people like you because it means you may get to speak with a woman one day that shares an interest with you that doesn't revolve around watching anime.

This is the reason why I don't hate on female tournaments (any more). I can see how it makes business sense for organizers to promote these games to women. I don't personally agree with the means they're using to achieve their goals, but I understand why investors are doing this "positive sexism" stunt. It's the easiest, most convenient way. However, I still have a huge problem with the so called feminist gamers (looking at you, missharvey), who are always on the lookout for the first opportunity to play a victim on how video gaming is sexist.

Why do you say "male" tournaments? Every single tournament is open to males and females. Definition of sexism : noun: sexism prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. Can you not understand that discriminating against any sex is sexism? It doesnt just work for women. Females are free to and if their ability allows it, compete in open tournaments where as males are not allowed to join "female only" tournaments. That situation is the definition of sexism.

Because the organizer made a cost-benefit analysis and concluded having a female-only tournament with a prize pool of 30,000$ would be profitable. That's the only reason any tournament organizer host tournaments. When will people finally understand this?

These tourneys only happen because of promotion purposes. I dont see women having any physical limits why they couldnt complete with men in this game? These noobs are allowed to compete only because they are women, I dont like it. Inb4 someone comes with "they would get stomped by tie 9 male team", well, so what? Why dont they practice then until they are better? Just my 2 cents. Pure marketing, this has NOTHING to do with being elite in CS. ps. my gf agreed with me :D

Why did you think I asked you to find some of the recent topics about it (because I believe them to be a pain to look through as they are never cleaned up), there you will find your sources or look up the scientific sources yourself if you wanna find the answer to it. Truly you don't understand the differences between males and females if that is how you think. Strength, of course not, but coordination and motor skills are not the same and we don't have the same mental capacity or brain activity which counts both for individuals and genders.

I dont want bullshit hltv threads, I want you to provide any decent source why or how women doesnt have same physical or mental abilities to compete on PC game against males. If you cant say anything but "go find recent topics" or "there are differences between women and men", go fuck yourself invert medikit.
