Luminosity win ELEAGUE Group A

Luminosity have won the ELEAGUE Group A final 2-1 over Cloud9 (11-16 on Mirage, 19-16 on Cobblestone, and 16-9 on Dust2) and advance to the playoffs of the $1.4 million tournament.

The late night final of Group A of the $1.4 million ELEAGUE Season 1 marked CS:GO's debut on American television on TBS as Luminosity, the world's best team per our Global Rankings, and Cloud9, currently ranked #18 in the world, faced off in a best-of-three to determine the team that would qualify for the weeks 9-10 playoffs.

Things got off to a lightning fast start with Cloud9 winning their CT-side pistolround and which included a knife kill from Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham. Following two anti-eco conversions, Cloud9 led at 3-0 and it was a triple kill from Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo that opened up the T-side for Luminosity and gave them the first gunround.

Luminosity appeared vulnerable but ultimately closed out the series on Dust2

Luminosity ran ahead to a 4-3 lead but a pistol buy by Cloud9 in the eighth round that included two CZ75 kills by Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert suddenly gave the Canadian-American team some fresh momentum and, following another successful execute by Luminosity, Cloud9 again grabbed round and began to inch ahead as n0thing and Jake "Stewie2K" Yip warmed up to their CT roles.

With Cloud9 up 9-5, the final round of the half saw Epitacio "TACO" de Melo get a multikill to help his team plant and successfully defend against a retake, and the half thus finished 9-6 in favour of Cloud9.

Luminosity relied on Marcelo "coldzera" David to help stop a B-site push and thus claim the second pistolround and they managed to win both anti-ecos as well as the first gunround but suddenly Cloud9 swung back into action with n0thing picking up multikills across two rounds in a row (and a subsequent anti-eco) to move ahead to 26 kills and a 12-10 lead.

That lead did not give up as n0thing led his team through round-after-round (and finished with a monstrous 33-18 score) and Cloud9 picked up Luminosity's map pick 16-11.

n0thing but headshots on Mirage

The map went over to Cobblestone and n0thing and Alec "Slemmy" White teamed up to secure the necessary frags to get Cloud9 the T-side pistolround on their map pick. Following the anti-ecos, FalleN put his AWP to work to help Luminosity grab the first gunround and survive a two versus two retake situation.

Despite Luminosity picking up the round afterwards, Cloud9 again powered ahead, this time thanks to the AWP work of Skadoodle and stood at 6-2 in the lead on their T-side. Solid defending by FalleN and Lincoln "fnx" Lau on the B-site gave Luminosity the rounds to equalise and the half ultimately finished 8-7 in Cloud9's favour.

Luminosity won the second pistolround and steamrolled ahead to a 11-9 lead but Cloud9 yet again began to march back, led by Skadoodle who would wind up finishing with 34 kills in regulation time. By the end of the back-and-forth brawl (and plenty of B takes), the two teams moved into overtime.

Luminosity finally buckled down in the overtime and managed to claim the second map, 19-16.

Skadoodle dropped 34 in regulation on Cobblestone, but it was not enough

With Dust2 being the final map of the best-of-three, many expected a close series as the map is traditionally seen as a pug playground where aimers and aggressive players shine. However, it was the Brazilians that began to very quickly establish dominance on the third map.

Part of this dominance was thanks to FalleN forcebuying a Scout after Cloud9 lost the first pistolround and then securing two otherworldly wallbang headshots on Cloud9 players on A long as he came up the catwalk.

With TACO and Fernando "fer" Alvarenga also helping bring down a Cloud9 retake early on, the North American team went silent as the Brazilians rolled ahead to a 14-1 first half. A close second pistolround saw Cloud9 manage to secure the plant and the round and inject some sliver of chance into the game.

However, with the score at 14-3, coldzera picked up three kills to help his team get match point. And then it became the Stewie2K show as the 18-year-old continued to get 3K's round-after-round. In the end, Stewie2K's personal battle to hang on was not enough as Luminosity secured the third map 16-9.

Dont be so harsh , the kid is good but in this case he met better players thats all. How can u expect him to beat Coldzera ( a monster ) ; fer fallen fnx are tons of exp ahead of him . And speaking about being flashy , hes not even as half as fnx in his 1.6 prime

It was such an intense match, at least the first two maps that people just might had heart attacks. Now, analising the whole game, I can just congratz Cloud 9 for the effort and predict they are in the right track. LG again making some huge mistakes in another finals, but n0thing went too much wrong to cost their victory. Finally, I need to say because it's bothering me. What was this Twitch transmission?! I couldn't even hear the caster because there were some Muricans shouting USA all the time like some broken alarm. I've muted the transmission a lot of times because of this. I want to hear the footsteps, the fire shots, not some crazy crowd. After saying that, I need to reserve a space for the value of the crowd for their team. In this case, I think C9 felt their fans cheering and stuff, I'm not complaining about it, i'm complaining about it's presence on the stream. Please, Eleague, fix that urgently. It's not professional! One last thing; NTC philosofy just making presence again! There's no lost match, guys! GGWP and see you on the big event! #LGLoyal #NTC # NiceToMeetYou #ConfiaNoVErdadeiro

WTF is Unprofessionell with a Perfect wired Crowd? It is actually very professional to wire the crowd that you can feel at home the emotions in the Studio And I do not remember once you couldn't hear Casters And I do not remember a event this year where you where able to hear footsteps

Yes, it's unprofessional and very disturbing. Any event that it's not made in USA you can hear every single soung in the game. It can be hard to hear footsteps sometimes, but for me it's the ideal. I repeat for you, it's unprofessional to put us and even more the players to hear such a loud crowd. Know why? Because it's a game that need focus, concentration. It's not Football where people have stadiums for cheering, it's Counter-Strike, for god's sake! I reinforce, the problem is not people yelling, it's the sound coming through the stream! Omg, I can't describe how annoying is it! I can bet if it were a brazillian crowd making noise there people would agree with me, i'm totally sure about it.

No I think It is the Highest Level op Production To broadcast the Atmosphere in the Game and in Sweden + Poland the Crowd is Super loud as well And CS moved in big Stadiums and CS turned into a Sport with cheering Crowds But always when it gets important the Crowd goes down in Sound in case you didn't notice

I think we can reach a mid term here. They don't need to put the crowd sound all the time, for example, but when they do something interesting, like a team warcry or celebrating an eco round won and this kind of things. When you put an annoying sound all the time you mislead the attention of the viewers. I personally prefer to hear the casters and the game sound, because since I do play this game I just pay attention in some details. When there is something, some noise all the time, you just can't focus. Every shot landed by LG was an "OHHHHH" response from the crowd and every shot from C9 was an "EHHHHHHHH". It's very annoying indeed, and the "USA" all the time. C'mon, man, you need to agree with me, it's not necessary to put a loud sound every moment of the game. And you also know that in Sweden and Poland people can be noisy but most of the time we don't hear them, at lest not this loud. You'll see if CS future is this madness sound mix in transmission or if I have some point here.

Then why do you dislike crowd reactions so much? I could find you a clip from any televised football match and you would be able to clearly hear chants and cheering from the spectators in the stadium. Pro CS:GO should be no different.

Did you read my post? "I repeat for you, it's unprofessional to put us and even more the players to hear such a loud crowd. Know why? Because it's a game that need focus, concentration. It's not Football where people have stadiums for cheering, it's Counter-Strike, for god's sake!". Now, let me say something. That's not because the e-sport is growing that we need to hear the crowd so loud. This last tramsnimission you could hear them louder than in any football match, and it was very annoying for me. We compared CS with football and it's not even accurate. Like I said before, this esport needs concentration and focus. In Tennis the crowd respect the playing moments, same as Golf, same as Chess and many other focus based sports. I know from de botton of my heart that I'm right about this. People can still cheer for their teams, I'm not complaining about it at all, since I've almost had an heart attack here at home on this last match. They just cannot let the loud sound come through the Stream, that's it. Maybe it would solve just rise game and caster sound and down the crowd's. The same argument you've used fits for me as well, if you want to hear the crowd shouting, just go to the presential event, go to the stadiums. The truth is I don't want to wait for the Demo or something like that, this is bullshit. I want a good live transmission and they're not delivering it.

If you want it to be dead serious, watch the demos with perfectly clear sound. This is turning into something big, and the players want that more than anyone. It secures their salary and eventually a future job within the business.

what? the 2 rounds where he actually aims at people's heads? At this level, you can't settle on getting body shots and spray adjusting. Its absolutely atrocious how that kid aims, hit the fucking hsdms man.

He might actually bring something to the team that is more scarce than aimers. You can probably find a lot of better aimers than many pros on ESEA or FaceIt, but they don't have the same understanding, experience, ingame IQ and general benefit to a team as pro players. You might be one of them? If so, stop concerning yourself about the guys with the "worst" aim among the best. Go and become a good allround player and take their spot. Sorry, I'm just tired of people picking on these players. They don't deserve it. They worked their freaking butts off to get to this point, and they never claimed they are among the best aimers in the world, even if they probably are, and you just underestimate the pressure, they are under.

I'm calling it like it is. At this level, you have to start your spray at someone's head. I don't care if he's smart, he can't lose so many fucking 1v1 duels. He's exclusively going for body shots and letting the recoil ride up. Those first 2-3 bullets are crucial to winning gun fights, and he just wastes them.

I don't know if it will remain the same now that everyone knows the format. I'm afraid we are gonna see some throws on the group stage since it's worth nothing.

Every team get a semifinal group spot no matter what. But yeah the point from group stage may be useful for Last chance qualifier and tournament Finals seeding.

No Groupstage is only Good for the Group Semi final seedings and that's it Top1 Group vs Bottom of Group in Semi1 And 2nd in Group vs 3rd in Group in Semi2 Winner1 - Winner2 Winner Final goes to Championship Week 9/10 Looser Final goes last chance qualifier Week 8/7 I think that that is a Great Systeme and do generally not understand why people get so upset about it

Yeah but every map win is worth 1 point in group stage and 2 points in the group finals. So that's how they will define the matches at the final stage.

Was way too close than I expected, but yeah - C9 lost their opportunity to close match on Cobble and it was only a downhill since, LG had full control on Dust 2, nice attempt from C9 thought.

Things may have ended differently on Dust2 if C9 started on T-side. Their CT-side is much weaker and didn't afford them enough rounds to close in on LG.

I doubt it. LG proved being much better than C9 at dust2 this week. C9 could start T-side with 6 guys and it should be the same way it was. C9 played good tho, ska, stewie and n0thing were true monsters this series. I'm not disapointed with LG cause I know the way C9 played this series they could challenge and win against any EU team.

No, the 2nd and 3rd place finisher will play out a group stage in August with the runner ups from other groups. LG advances directly into the playoffs. Only the 4th place finisher is eliminated.
