Karsa: "Changed our style for Imm."

Over the first two days in Katowice, Poland, TYLOO managed to go 1-1, as they lost to G2 on Cache yesterday but defeated Immortals on it earlier today.

We grabbed the coach QiFang "⁠Karsa⁠" Su alongside TYLOO's photographer, Marshall Ceong Law, who kindly translated the interview, to ask about the matches, preparation prior to the event and more:

Starting off with the usual, what was your preparation like before this event as one of the teams that have had a lot of time?

It was very basic, before the tournament we just did research on the potential opponents that we might be matched up to. Before this game, because yesterday we lost to G2 on the same map, we discussed a lot where our mistakes are and all the strategies. For today we actually prepared some new tactics on Cache and we were able to use them well, so we just played what we have been preparing.

You were talking about putting preparation in for potential opponents, who did you look into, seeing as you can meet anyone due to the format?

Before the tournament we just focused on ourselves more, actually, we just prepared new strats, positions when we are defending. About doing research for the opponents, when we know who we face we do research on them, watch their demos or VODs. Whichever opponent we face, it's going to be the same, we'll know who we're going to play against and then we do the research on them.

Who do you see as your biggest threats at this tournament?

EnVyUs and G2, we played G2 yesterday and their individual skill is really good. Other teams are pretty much the same for us.

Yesterday you were up 7-1 on G2 but then you fell off, what happened there?

It was 7-1 and they called a timeout, and after that I remember it was a clutch, we were 2v1 and we lost that round. After that, they picked up a few rounds and at that moment, we couldn't really calm down and think about what happened, what we need to do. We just kept playing and didn't call a timeout, so we weren't calm enough and also we had some bad communication in the clutch rounds. 

I was talking to G2 about this as well and they said you like to rotate very quickly, swarming zones that they were attacking. Is that something you noticed or looked into after the match?

Today our playstyle was totally changed, we didn't rotate as much or try to do those early retakes every round. We changed our style, both defending and attacking. That's why we won today's game I think.

Looking at potential 1-1 teams you could be matched up to tomorrow, do you have any sort of preference who you'd rather face (or not face)?

No specific teams, we would obviously rather avoid the big teams and rather face the average-level teams.

But no matter which team we're gonna face, we won't be afraid, because there is a mythical force from the Orient supporting us (因为我们有一股来自东方的神秘力量) [laughs].

I do have to ask about this, people have noticed all the players have quite a high sensitivity, is that a thing in China or where does it come from?

The players use the default DPI (400-500) and aside from Mo they use about sensitivity 3 in-game, so it's not that high. But the trend in China is actually a low sensitivity, so maybe it's because our players are from a younger generation.
