The team ranked first in the world, announced last week that they wouldn’t be attending DreamHack Winter. The groups for DreamHack Winter have been announced – fnatic attends.
DreamHack will once again be held in the massive Elmia expo center, located in Jönköping, Sweden. Twelve teams have received wildcards for the tournament, while four teams can qualify through the LAN-qualifier. Teams placing first and second from each group, will advance to playoffs.
The group stage is promising nemesis-fights, already in this stage of the tournament. MYM and mTw have once again been placed in group together. MYM recently swapped a player, while mTw have been going strong for the past tournaments, even eliminating MYM at WCG.
SK Gaming and GamePlay have been paired in group b. The Swedes had the advantage over the Fin’s last time, as they eliminated GamePlay in the playoffs at WCG. GamePlay have however several times been messing around with SK Gaming, the team also finished as runners up, at DreamHack Summer.
Promising a Swedish clash in group c, as lanklan and fnatic got drawn into the same group. lanklan won against fnatic in Extreme Masters III with 2 maps against 1, while fnatic have been home since their elimination from World e-Sports Masters, they should not have been at DreamHack, but they are after all.
Group d sees mousesports and Made in Brazil as the two top contenders. Portuguese k1ck have also been drawn into the group. The former defs did however show poor performance at WCG, and should not be any threat for mousesports or Made in Brazil.
In the BYOC qualifier we see Blank to be the top favorite. Other teams such as ESC ICY BOX Gaming, playnation, Druid and Gamefuel should all have chances of advancing.
DreamHack Winter will have an astonishing prize purse, which is divided as follows:
1. – 100.000 SEK + 5 ASUS G71 Gaming Laptops (Value: 150.000 SEK)
2. – 60.000 SEK + hardware (Value: 35.000 SEK)
3. – 25.000 SEK + hardware (Value: 25.000 SEK)
4. – 15.000 SEK + hardware (Value: 15.000 SEK)
1€ = 10.14 SEK
The BYOC qualifier will start on Thursday 27th of November, while groups will Friday 28th and playoffs Saturday 29th. HLTV.org will be onsite in Jönköping, to bring you all the action from DreamHack Winter.
