Singapore replace China at TWC finals

E-frag.net, the organizers of the $100,000 World Championship, announced today that the Chinese squad will not be able to attend the event for the second year in a row.

A similar situation occurred last year as the Chinese players couldn't get a visa and skipped the event. The organizers, taking into consideration what happened last year, thought there wasn't enough time for them to get a visa for this year's finals and disqualified them.

Singapore who lost 0-3 to China in the grand final of the 24-team Asian qualifier were handed the slot and will travel to Belgrade, Serbia for the event taking place from October 5-9.

"It is with great regret that we inform you that the Chinese team will be replaced by Singapore due to visa issues. The Chinese team had over two months to apply and receive their visas in order to be able to attend the World Championship 2016 LAN Finals, held in Belgrade, Serbia. It is due to this that we reluctantly were forced to disqualify them, as we have had a similar situation happen to us the previous year, where three weeks weren't enough to get a visa, which leads us to believe that two weeks won’t be either." E-frag.net explained the situation in their statement.
