Heroic and OpTic win openers

The second opener in Group A saw Heroic prevail over Liquid, 16-7, on Cobblestone, while OpTic did the same in their Group B opener by beating NRG, 16-6, on Nuke.

HEROIC started Cobblestone on the CT side in style, winning a 2vs4 retake on the A site which included a 1vs2 clutch with the USP by Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså. The first gun round came early, as Liquid had planted the bomb on the first round, but a patient hold by HEROIC allowed the Danish-Swedish team to hold on to the lead and the economic advantage.

Liquid finally found an opening on the sixth round as Jacob "Pimp" Winneche caught Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer out of position on long and Andreas "MODDII" Fridh got overrun trying to find cover in the A site by a mob of tec9s. Four kills by Snappi in the next round, including two entries, got HEROIC back on track and Liquid screwed for money.

valde’s dominance early on in the match was vital for Heroic

Despite somewhat bringing it back in the first half to close it 9-6, Liquid were unable to win the second pistol round, giving up a further 3 rounds to the Danish squad for a comfortable 12-6 lead. After winning the first gun round, HEROIC were well under way to their first win of the tournament. Ultimately, Liquid were too far out of the game to put together a comeback, and HEROIC closed it out 16-7.

The first pistol round on Nuke went the way of NRG, thanks to three swift USP kills by the team’s leader, Fatih "gob b" Dayik. OpTic were quick to reply, however, winning the following round and extending their lead to 3-1. After a back and forth in the first moments of the map, it was finally OpTic that took it 6-9 on the terrorist side.

tarik went big on Nuke for OpTic

The second side was an absolute whitewash for OpTic, with Tarik "tarik" Celik going particularly big and ending with a +28 kdr and 120 adr, as the American-Candian-Spanish team went on to take the half without a response from the German-European mix of NRG, closing it 16-6.
