DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017 Asia Closed QualifierCHF, Risky to DH Masters closed qual
Chiefs and Risky finish on top of their respective qualifiers to obtain their spots at the DreamHack Las Vegas Closed Asian Qualifier, joining the two invited Chinese teams.
A full house of sixty-four teams signed up for the Indian & Middle East qualifier, which was quickly depleted to the final two teams between United Arab Emirates' Risky and the Indian team, ENTiTY.Gold.
ENTiTY.Gold was off to a good start in the grand final, as they happen to upset the opposition on Risky's map pick on Cobblestone, 16-13. With ten rounds on the board on their Terrorist half, Risky comfortably claimed the next map on Mirage 16-10 to tie the series. Love "havoK" Paras's side had no trouble pulling off the reverse sweep to take the series 2-1, without giving up any rounds for ENTiTY.Gold to clinch in the last map.

The Oceanic qualifier was full of surprises, starting off with Immunity, Exile5 and Iain "SnypeR" Turner's plusvee failing to reach the best-of-three playoffs at the quarter-final stage. Due to Tyler "tucks" Reilly's previous VAC ban and Joshua "INS" Potter being unavailable because of school commitments, Chiefs used the AVANT duo, Iyengaran "IyeN" Raju and Georgio "sK" Poumpoulidis to stand in for the whole tournament.
Unexpectedly, this mix team defeated Parallax 2-1 from behind and moved on to the semi-final to also take down the tournament favourite, Athletico in a quick 2-0 fashion despite the valiant efforts of Travis "wizard" Richardson to keep his team in the game.
aliStair displayed an MVP performance in the final to pull his team through
Recently returning back home from competing in the United States, Winterfox cruised through the qualifier of sixty teams. They faced SYF in the semi-final, who gave them more of a fight in the first map, with a double-digit scoreline and Peter "pecks" Nguyen dropping a 30 bomb. However, it was not enough to stop Christopher "dexter" Nong and company, who eventually secured both maps in the end.
The grand final began with the Chiefs-AVANT mixture being ahead at a 5-1 lead on Cache, but Chris "emagine" Rowlands' squad reduced the difference to a one round deficit to a 8-7 half. Winterfox showed their enemies why they chose this map in the remaining half, as their defence proved to be too powerful for Chiefs to break through.
Chiefs held their ground to take the following map on Cobblestone, 16-10. Heading into the third map, both teams were neck to neck with Winterfox managing to have the additional one round lead in the first half of Mirage.
Ryan "zewsy" Palmer's side bounced to a 11-7 lead, after taking the second pistol round convincingly. A combination of a double AWP set-up, multi-rifle frags, with Alistair "aliStair" Johnston and IyeN clutching important 1v1 and 2v3 situations respectively, helped Chiefs bring it back to 12-all.
Once again, Winterfox jumped forward to grab match point at 15-12, but Liam "malta" Schembri and IyeN's teamwork on the A bombsite kept the boys in blues' chances alive in the next round. A poor economic decision from the foxes allowed Michael "Lightstep" Hall and his men to pull off the final upset of the day with an overtime win to steal the 2-1 victory.
