SL i-League StarSeries S3 announced

StarLadder and ImbaTV will once again join efforts in the third season of the SL i-League StarSeries, with LAN finals in Ukraine. To kick the show off, StarLadder announced the first two out of a total of eight invites, which were given to Astralis and Virtus.pro.

The tournament will have 16 teams from Europe, Asia, and America, playing for the bulk of the $300,000 prize pool The LAN finals will be held at the Palace "Ukraine"—the same venue where Ninjas in Pyjamas were crowned champions in SL i-League's second season—on April 4-9.

The Palace "Ukraine" will once again host the offline finals

Two of the first eight invites have been made public, Astralis and Virtus.pro, the finalists of the ELEAGUE Major. The other six invites, as well as the details for the online qualifiers, will be made public at a future date.

fnatic did qualify for IEM Katowice 2017 they should get invited because they won the 2016 version but they didn't .. so i guess nip has to qualify

Fnatic were put in the qualifier because: 1. Roster was different at the time the qualifier was announced 2. Virtually no results before the EL Major (which was after the qualifier announcement) NiP were directly invited to DH Masters Las Vegas because they managed to win IEM Oakland, not just because they were the defending champions of DH Masters. NiP might have to qualify for StarSeries but its unlikely because IEM Oakland was not that long ago and they might do well in Las Vegas.

They initally had Tonya (aka WESG female) host do the interviews. Then after a few days they switched to another female which was probably Vladyslava.

You really think fnatic will have any trouble qualifying? They are the most notorious team when it comes to absolutely wrecking low tier opponents. It doesn't matter if they don't get invited. They will be there anyway. But teams like VP nip need invites because dinosaurs cba to play properly while qualifying. Need everything handed to them on a plate.

They need to prove themselves as a top team before receiving an invite to big events like top teams do. edit: neither do G2, they also need to prove themselves as a top team at this event by qualifying for it and performing well.

The semis of the last major were fnatic's ONLY decent achievement before the new team. Name me another that is recent. Their past success was 6 months ago or even longer, a lot changes in 6 months so making the 'past success' argument is not an argument. OpTic: 1st at Northern Arena 2nd ECS 1st ELEAGUE S3 this is more than fnatic. North also have more achievements as of recently than fnatic + fnatic are a new lineup with 2 changed players. fnatic don't deserve the invite, neither do G2. Both should qualify end of.

north 0 top 4 for 5 month, yea maybe optic is by far better then fnatic in recent achievements but i think they wont invite them. I guess they will look a lot on EL major and invite 7\8 legends, also there will be NA qual with at least 2-3 spots for immortals optic c9

I personally just think that they should invite most of the legends from the EL major and one more top team or something like that. I think IMT and C9 will make it past the quals as well. fair enough on the North comment, but they still have achievements to show unlike current fnatic and G2 who like I said need to prove themselves. I'd say the same thing for any other new team, in fact OpTic should have to prove their worth through the quals too.
