ECS Dev. League invites revealed

The organisers of the Esports Championship Series (ECS) have unveiled the invite list for the Development League.

Running from February 28 to March 17, the ECS Development League will see 16 teams duke it out for the chance to secure one of the four spots in the ECS league that are up for grabs across the two divisions.

Following the end of the open qualifiers in Europe and North America, the ECS organisers have announced the invite list for the Development League, which includes big names like North, Gambit and Misfits.

North will try to enter ECS through the Development League

The Development League will consist of a best-of-two round robin stage. In both regions, the top two teams will face off against the bottom two sides from ECS Season 2 in a best-of-five promotion match, which will determine the final teams entering the league.

In Europe, fnatic and Virtus.pro are waiting for the two teams coming from the Development League. In North America, compLexity and TSM will be hoping to keep their spots in the ECS League, which will kick off on March 31.

Why are they not automatically in ECS?

I'm guessing Orgs keep the spots. Kinda fucked up that they have to qualify.

Organizations own the spots in ECS - so Dignitas have it for now. Same thing happened with LG/SK last season.

Seems like people forget that the two best teams of this qualifier have to face the worst two teams of the last "pro" season which means that in EU the winners have to face fnatic and VP in bo5s.

I believe organisations keep the spot. Team Dig is going to need to be replaced, (most likely by north if they do not make it.)

I don't think they'd be replaced by North, I think rather the first place of the dev league would get an automatic spot and places 2 and 3 would get promotion games.
