Selfless Gaming have announced that they have released their entire roster with immediate effect.

The news comes as no surprise as Selfless' roster had recently been depleted to just three players following the transfers of Noah "⁠Nifty⁠" Francis and Alec "⁠Slemmy⁠" White to Renegades and compLexity, respectively.

In a statement, Selfless owner Steve "⁠Ryu⁠" Rattacasa explains that "the time has come" for the organisation to "take a few steps back and reevaluate" their position in the scene.

He added that the Selfless management will "continue to monitor the CS:GO marketplace and see if there are any opportunities that make sense."

All players have been released from their contracts and have been offered severance terms, Ryu revealed.

Terry "⁠dsr⁠" Rioux is about to take up a full-time job, which will force him to become inactive, but the rest of the team will continue to compete in the ESL Pro League, in which they currently sit at the bottom of the table, with one victory from 16 games.

The following players are currently registered to play for the team in the Pro League:

Jake "⁠kaboose⁠" McDonald
Coby "⁠dizzywi⁠" Meadows
Caio "⁠zqkS⁠" Fonseca

Shame that Selfless were essentially priced out of the market. Given the current landscape, another NME-esque team (i.e, managing to win the first NA minor and competitive in the EPL) would take a year+ to build and invest in. Not worth it in todays landscape.

The transaction costs are ridiculously low for these tier of players, so I doubt he would have made any money to balance the costs, let alone profit.

You release the player not the team. The team is the substance of a known brand. If the brand has no substance, the brand is dead. Probably the brand should've been sold off to other investors like Astralis, that can foresee the value of the esports industry.
