HellRaisers stun North; to semis

HellRaisers advance to SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 semi-finals after stunning North 2-1 (Cobblestone 9-16, Cache 16-14, Overpass 16-11).

The home side HellRaisers got off to the better start on Cobblestone, picking up a 3-0 lead early after a pistol round win and a costly anti-forcebuy.

The first gunround saw Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz getting two opening kills on B, but it wasn't enough to turn the advantage into a win, as North turned it around and went on a streak. With several comfortable executes going their way, the Danes added seven more rounds on the board before HellRaisers broke the streak with an eco win where Martin "STYKO" Styk got two crucial kills with the Deagle.

Vladyslav "bondik" Nechyporchuk's triple on A long then gave HR their fifth round, but it was North to close out the half with a 10-5 score after Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen got five kills over the last two rounds.

STYKO's quad-kill in the second pistol round lowered the deficit to just two rounds, but Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke replied with one of his own towards A long. Kyrylo "ANGE1" Karasiow and company then broke North's economy, although it didn't seem to matter because René "cajunb" Borg put up three kills in the complete eco afterward.

HellRaisers join FaZe in StarSeries semis

From there on, North didn't let go of any opportunities they had, winning a total of five rounds in a row, breaking HellRaisers' economy over and over for a 16-9 victory on map one.

Cache saw HR pick up a 5-0 lead early as they barely lost any players in the process before North opted for a B attack and succeeded. After losing the next round when DeadFox turned around a 3v5 situation, the Danes continued to attack B over and over, winning all the close situations including a 1v1 by cajunb and a 1v2 by k0nfig. In the 14th round, a well-timed mid push from ANGE1 in a disadvantage allowed him to pick up an ace and finish off the half at 8-7 in his team's favor.

The CIS-based squad continued with their success in pistol rounds, getting their fourth in a row in the series, as the Ukrainian in-game leader put up three more kills for a 11-7 lead.

The next four rounds were split evenly thanks to individual play from Emil "Magisk" Reif and bondik before North began stringing rounds together, winning all the close situations on A to equalize the scoreline at 13-13.

HellRaisers still had life left in them, however, switching up the pace and running a quick A execute after several default rounds, which caught North off-guard. That forced the Danes on a forcebuy, which Philip "aizy" Aistrup and cajunb turned into a round win. The map finished in nail-biting fashion, as Patrik "Zero" Žúdel won two 1v1 clutches in a row to force map three, Overpass.

There, the fifth pistol in a row went HellRaisers' way who also survived the following two rounds for a 3-0 win, but North soon evened out the scoreline at 3-3.

Zero's two 1v1's at the end of Cache saved HellRaisers

With doubles from Zero and bondik, HR clinched the next round, but Magisk replied with a triple on A for a 5-4 lead. DeadFox and company then took over the half, only conceding one more round with Zero putting up two triples in crucial rounds, getting a 9-6 half as Terrorists.

HellRaisers grabbed the sixth pistol round as well and added three more rounds to their lead. North then woke up, forcing their opponents to save their weapons twice in a row and surviving one of the anti-ecos thanks to cajunb clutching a 1v2.

However, two saved weapons helped HR win one of the forcebuys afterwards, getting their 13th round on the board, and winning yet another bad buy later on (with DeadFox and Zero the heroes) meant North had to opt for forcebuys themselves. Thanks to the economic advantage, HellRaisers had little to no trouble closing out the match at 16-11, securing their first semi-final at a big event.

PotM: Patrik "Zero" Žúdel played fantastically on both maps HellRaisers won and secured his team several crucial rounds, including two 1v1 clutches at 14-14 and 15-14 on Cache.

Grats to HellRaisers, they totally deserved to be in semi final with their performance lately on both offline and online. So far this tournament looks full of surprises for to people but these are not surprising results when teams underestimating their opponents.

I hope they don't do their usual routine: perform amazingly in a tournament after having gradually increased their form and then just completely drop off after that one good run.

Twice in a row that North has dropped the ball in the Quarterfinals against teams they should easily beat. Faze likes it though, because of it their Katowice and Starladder semis matches are Immortals and Hellraisers.

Proper team effort by HR. The fact that over 3 maps all 5 players are within 6 kills of each just shows how much they all contribute. Same as with FaZe - when everyone contributes you win. No hard carries these days!

This is very true and something analysts often don't pick up on. I'm always impressed when a whole team pulls their weight, everyone steps up at crucial points and frag/dmg distribution ends up so even. It's a sign of a well-balanced team

Seeing Zero finally perform the way I'd been expecting for a while is good, kid's going to be nuts in a year or two probably. It kept bugging me seeing him not perform well, because his decision making is usually really solid.

North have a lot af things to work on. The keep doing stupid stuff again and again. Can't wait to see more from HR, nice team play. But would be surprised if the make the final at this event.

Hellraisers beat FaZe in bo1 groups, don't expect an easy victory.
