Gambit see off Cloud9

Gambit have eliminated Cloud9 after beating them 2-0 at DreamHack Open Summer 2017 (16-12 on Train and 16-11 on Cache).

The best-of-three elimination match between Gambit and Cloud9 started on Train where the T-sided Cloud9 won the pistol round. Gambit took the second round with Rustem "mou" Telepov's triple Scout kill but Cloud9 responded back to lead 2-1.

After Cloud9 made it 6-1, Gambit initiated a five round streak to tie the game. Cloud9 grabbed the last three rounds of the half, last of which was won by Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert who clutched a 1vs2. The North American team also won the first two rounds of the second half but Gambit were unstoppable after this point and won the match by picking up ten of the last eleven rounds (16-12).

Gambit stay alive

Cloud9 kicked off Cache on the CT-side and won the pistol round but Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov's quad kill in the second round tied the game. Mike "shroud" Grzesiek's 1vs2 clutch in the following round didn't ignite the engine of Cloud9 as Gambit asserted their dominance on the T-side, winning rounds without losing many players (10-2).

Just when Cloud9 got their third round on the board, Abay "HObbit" Khassenov picked up three entry kills on the B-site and Gambit went on to have a 12-3 lead at halftime.

Cloud9 are eliminated

Cloud9 took the A-site in the second half pistol round to keep their hopes alive by not losing the following two rounds. Despite losing the first weapon round, Cloud9 replied immediately to break Gambit's economy (13-7).

Gambit eventually countered Cloud9's last ditch effort and won the map 16-10. Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko & company will play fnatic at 20:00 in a decider match for the last playoff spot. Cloud9, on the other hand, have been eliminated.

I know this is a fairly big tournament, but I think Cloud9 were more concerned in the Americas Minor so they could qualify for the main qualifier, rather than making the playoffs for this tourney where they were clearly outmatched. They didn't have much time to prepare.

shroud is WAY too valuable to Cloud9 as a brand asset, as a streamer, and as a community figure, to be kicked by Cloud9. Shroud himself just needs to fuck off the team already, so they can replace him with someone more motivated, and better.

so keep him as a streamer then? you can even drag him along on the events so he can sign shirts and shit for the kids, just don't have him in the active roster

a streamer and an awper that needs a proper IGL to succeed... and in order to make up for the lack of a proper IGL, you use your best player for that role... Amazing how long the org has allowed this to go on.
