Singularity sign Gatekeepers

Singularity are back with a new team as the Danish organization have signed the Swedish side Gatekeepers until 2019, the owner has told HLTV.org.

Last time we heard from Singularity was at the end of June, when Peter "⁠Inzta⁠" Kragelund, Lucas "⁠Lukki⁠" Pilheden & co. parted ways with the organization to join the ranks of Tricked.

With the signing of the now former Gatekeepers players, Singularity turn their eyes towards Sweden for the first time after previously housing only Danish teams.

The new Singularity team

The Swedish team made their breakthrough in May, when they qualified for GeForce Cup. At the Polish event, they acquitted themselves quite well, knocking PENTA out in the quarter-finals before being defeated by Space Soldiers in the last-four stage.

Recently, Robin "⁠robiin⁠" Sjögren's team managed to win the closed qualifier for Cross Border Esport 2017, a Danish event that will be held from September 8-10, with approximately $15,000 up for grabs.

Contacted by HLTV.org, Singularity CEO Atle Stehouwer explained why they looked for Swedish talent instead of continuing to support Danish teams:

Just as much as things are developing for the better in the Danish esport scene, I really feel the CS:GO scene are in a bad place because of various reasons.

One of the main issues is that many Danish sport clubs are looking to go into esports, and have started to talk directly to players, which should actually be a good thing, but because the sportsclubs have almost no budget for esports they’re hesitating to take action. Their indecisiveness affects almost every team outside of the Danish top 5, because all the semi-pros/ amateurs are getting overwelmed by getting approached by these sportsclubs. Loyalty and cosistency in the danish scene are not really existing at the moment, which is one of the reasons we decided to look outside the Danish scene.

There’s many reasons why I selected to work with this team, one of them is of course that I see a huge potential, and another one being the timing for both parties. I believe these guys have the potential to go all the way, and I’m looking forward to assist the guys on their global journey to the top, and help them overcome all kinds of problems.

Fedt, nu begynder det at gå op for mig at orgen bag Singularity navnet er kegler. Ikke bare det at man går i krig mod en af landets største organisationer når man ikke er større. Vi står foran måske den største forretnings mulighed i Danmarks historien, og går efter at være de første og dem som signer flest professionelle spillere på landskortet. Så går man ud af landet og fisker 5 middelmådige svenske spillere og signer "Gatekeepers" ikke engang et hold der kan give en "Lifetime opportunitet", det jo ikke 5 STORE NAVNE. Der er mange danske teams der kunne have erstattet de her. Men okay hvis ikke man vil støtte danske talenter! Jeg er ikke sur eller skuffet.. Men stof til eftertanke ;).

Jeg ved det ikke, men danske hold er ret dyre, så det er også vigtigt at have med i ligningen. Men det var jo dig, der påstod det, så var egentlig bare interesseret i, hvem du ser som mulige hold, der kan erstatte dem :-)

Påstod, det er facts. Kan godt være du har masser indsigt, alene det burde være nok til du ved hvad jeg snakker om. Jeg behøver jo ikke engang sige hvilke hold der kan overgå det der der er jo masser af tage af, vi har en af de stærkeste top10'er i verden. Det var heller ikke pointen at udpege et hold som kunne slå Gatekeepers.. Pointen var at når vi alligevel har så stærk en scene hvorfor så ikke støtte scenen frem for at gå ind og høste et svensk hold - det går jo også udover dig i sidste ende, du spiller jo selv blandt de store hold :D. I kunne jo have været potentielle, tager jeg fejl? Men øvrige facts som spiller ind - som du siger er danske hold for dyre.. Ok, det var jeg ikke klar over. Og som Ardal skriver, så vil de færreste have noget med Singularity at gøre. Det var jeg sådan nogenlunde klar over. Mener stadig at man som dansk cs spiller er hurtig til at lave sanktioner mod organisationer eller andre cs spillere. Det samme gælder organisationer.. Jeg synes vi bør støtte op om scenen med alt vi har, kan godt være jeg kommer til at lyde en grad nationalistisk og det er skam ikke fordi jeg ikke elsker Sverige, men hvis Danmark vil have den scene de drømmer om, og blive først SOM DE UDTALER SIG, så bør vi nok holde på den her med at gribe fat i danske spillere, hold og talenter. Eller i har måske tænk jer at finde en org i udlandet? :)

Jeg spiller skam ikke, tror måske du forveksler mig med SandeN? :D Men når det er sagt, så er jeg ret sikker på at undefined koster i hvert fald dobbelt så meget som dem her, hvis ikke mere. Det er helt rigtigt, vi har en af de stærkeste top10 i verden, men når du når ned under Fragsters, så er det lidt begrænset med stabilitet mens holdene stadig kræver meget i løn, så kan forestille mig, at det er derfor, de har valgt dette hold, som er godt repræsenteret i internationale turneringer. Der får man dem nok relativt billigt, uden jeg dog helt præcist ved det, men nu har jeg skrevet nyheden, så jeg har jo haft nogle indledende snakke med ejeren, og det virker som om, at danske hold er hamrende dyre i forhold til, hvad man får.

Tja, der er jo ingen der ved om græsset er grønnere på den anden side. Kan sagtens se logikken i at man satser på et hold til halvpris hvis man mener de kan det samme, eller at man får mere ud af dem. Men Singularity kunne jo have fundet et hold længere oppe i puljen og arbejdet sig opad igen som sidst.. De har fået masser ud af at satse på et hold med talenter, så hvorfor ikke fortsætte der. Lukki, Gade, Zepton og borup var sgu ikke titanprofiler da de joinede Singularity, og det er det koncept jeg tror Singularity ville tjene sig selv rigtig godt ved at holde fast i, frem for at forsvinde helt ind i den svenske scene og blive glemt på den danske scene, pga. nogen misforståelser og nogen åndssvage skænderier. Men okay, No risc no reward, som man siger. Lad os se om det bær frugt eller om det mislykkedes.
