DreamHack Winter groups drawn

The draw for the group stage of DreamHack Open Winter has taken place, with the eight participating teams having been split into two groups.

The final DreamHack event of the year will take place from December 1-3 at the Elmia Convention Center, in Jönköping, where eight teams - six invited plus two qualified - will compete for their share of a $100,000 prize fund.

A double-elimination group stage, featuring best-of-three matches in the lower bracket, will lead into a single-elimination bracket with the top two teams from both groups, with all matches being played in a best-of-three format.

Hobbit and Zeus will meet again at DreamHack Winter

Group A is headlined by two Eastern European teams, Gambit and Natus Vincere, with the latter set to make their first outing since recruiting Denis "electroNic" Sharipov from FlipSid3. Group B looks to be a three-horse race between BIG, MOUZ and Envy for the playoff spots.

While ideal, a BO5 is just too damn long. It's not too bad if certain maps are blowouts (but are blowouts even good viewing?) but if you get close games or god forbid, overtime...well, then it could easily take 5 hours.

well that's more interesting than playing bo3 in all ways, there is more comeback potential, bo5 will check more precisely which team is better prepared, games like last VP SK final in bo5 format are just godlike dude

Godlike series, yes. Palatable length, no. Most sports are of reasonable length meaning that they can be consumed / viewed is a reasonable amount of time eh 1.5hrs to 3. When we get into the realms of 5 hours it can be a bit too much for most people...see Cricket ;)

I really think Mousesports is gonna win this. I mean look at their group. I dont know whether its a BO1 or BO3. Gambit VS Rise Nation - If its BO1, I think Gambit should still win but Rise could upset Gambit. If its BO3 it should be a easy 2-0 for Gambit. Mousesports vs North Academy - Pretty much the same I said before besides that the chance of North Academy upsetting Mouz is slimmer. Heroic vs NaVi - If electronic wouldnt have joined i would have said Heroic 2-0 (1-0 BO1) but now because he joined I thin NaVi is gonna get one map but wont win this match. EnVyUs vs Big - Big hasnt been looking that great lately but i still think this should be a close game with EnVy probably winning it 2-1. Group A - Winner Match: Heroic vs Gambit This is going to be a 2-1 for Heroic. Heroic played very good lately but still a close match. Group B - Winner Match: Mousesports vs EnVyUs This should be a close match aswell and its gonna be decided on which maps are gonna be played. Both teams have their own strong maps but i still think Mouz 2-1 Envy Group A - Elimination Matches: NaVi vs Rise Ez Map for NaVi. Rise hasnt proven that much at this tuer level against hiegher tier teams. (Rise out) Group B - Elimination Matches: Big vs NorthAcademy Same with North Academy with what i said for Rise. (NorthA out) Group A - Decider: Gambit vs Heroic Should be close. Heroic 1-2 Gambit. Group B - Decider: Envy vs Mouz Really just depends on map. Gambit (A1) Heroic (A2) Mouz (B1) Eny (B2) Semi Final - Gambit vs Eny 2-0 Gambit. Envy really isnt a good team. Semi Final - Mouz vs Heroic 2-1 Mouz. Shouldnt be that close just that theyre gonna play a map mouz sucks on. Final - Mousesports vs Gambit We saw Mykonos that Mouz is better than Gambit. Maybe not as succesful but better individually. This should be a very close 2-1. If its BO5 (i have no idea what it is) 3-2! Mousesports should win this. Of course this is my opinion. Dont just hate me if you have a different one. I would like that maybe someone could put out mistakes and everything.
