DTS win ASUS Spring Cup
DTS-Gaming defeated Virtus.pro 2-1 to claim winning honours at ASUS Spring Cup 2009.
After a poor campaign in their own competition, DTS-Gaming decided to add Ioan "Edward" Sukhariev from pro100, hoping that the change would help improve the team's fortunes.
However, in their first LAN appearance with the new line-up, DTS did not fare that well, placing just fourth at Arbalet Cup on Friday.
DTS looked a much better side at ASUS Spring Cup, however, reaching the final after thrashing Arbalet winner k23 at the semi-final stage. Their opponent, Virtus.pro, had finished second at Arbalet and were now looking for their first trophy with the new line-up.
The match started on de_inferno, where DTS proved their superiority with a score of 16-8. The Russians managed to respond, winning de_dust2 19-16 to take the game to a third map.
On de_train, DTS started out very well as T, securing a first-half lead of 10-5. When the teams switched sides, Virtus.pro rarely got past the Ukrainian's defence, thus making it a final score of 16-6 in favour of DTS.
