Winstrike bench quartet

Winstrike have announced that they have decided to bench every player on the team except Kirill "⁠Boombl4⁠" Mikhailov.

The decision comes in the aftermath of the team's disappointing run at the FACEIT Major, where they were unable to retain their Legend status after going 0-3 in the second stage of the competition.

Winstrike, who lost to Liquid, fnatic and Cloud9 in London, plan to rebuild the team around Boombl4 and coach Dmitry "⁠iksou⁠" Mikhaylichenko, but, according to a statement from the Russian organisation, it is possible that some of the benched players will be brought back into the line-up.

Winstrike make drastic move after going out 0-3 at the Major

A final decision will be made "in the coming days", according to Winstrike, with the team set to compete in the qualifiers for EPICENTER and WESG.

"We could not keep our eyes closed after the 0-3 and pretend that everything is in order," Winstrike COO Oleg Sukalkin wrote.

"The team obviously needs changes, and they will happen. We are now thinking about potential replacements and considering offers from other organisations."

yep, I think if they kept the current roster they would be consistently at around #50. though idk why they haven't upgraded any players (ex-k1ck players, maybe buy someone from similar CIS teams, also flipsid3 fallout and worldedit is still waiting for a buyout, same with seized etc). I guess 0-3 rule was too late for changes and they expected to play in another major atleast. funny enough i think the 0-3 in a way damaged c9 too in a sense that they are limited to 2 roster changes.

it doesn't matter boston was exception or not. their result would've gotten them essentially 2 more invites and in this case they got only 1. (boston major, faceit major legends stage, esl 2019 challenger stage with stickers - removed because 0-3). I'm just surprised winstrike didn't use their resources to build a stronger lineup considering they're richer than a lot of lower CIS teams

Well, yeah, this whole thing means new opportunities for him. But it's hard to say where will he end up. I hope he finds a solid team which has experienced players (imo the new Flipsid3 would be a good scenario). Personally, I don't want to see him in these random Lithuanian mix teams because he deserves more. Maybe teaming up with kalinka + picking up 3 other guys would be a good idea.
