Blight.ca add GRT

Blight Canada have announced former Vortex and EG.ca member Garett "GRT" Bambrough as their fifth man.

Blight Canada have been a team full of surprises lately. Last week they were announced as one of 12 ESEA Invite teams coming straight from ESEA's lowest league. Today they announced that they have indeed added Bambrough to their roster.

When asked on the move here is what Bambrough told HLTV.org:

"First, I want to say that I hate parting with teams and did not want this to happen. Basically Vortex and I didn’t work out because we were on different pages in terms of CS and didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things, and we’ve had roster problems since the get go. We talked about some lineups, and this close to WCG I wasn’t feeling how things were going and decided it would be best to part. Blight came around unexpectingly and was good timing for me since they are going to WCG."

Bambrough has confirmed he will support Kory “semphis” Friesen in calling strategies for Blight.

Blight Canada now have the following roster:

Canada Scott "bishop" Bishop
Canada Brennan "eleiNt" Webster
Canada Jamie "PHZ5ao" Cross
Canada Kory "semphis" Friesen
Canada Garett "GRT" Bambrough
Canada Mikael "techtRoN" Cox (backup)

I'm not a fan of grt, all he does is talk crap about other players who are clearly better than him, while he indeed has a good amount of skill, just not enough to put him up there with a high level team. either way hopefully it'll be a good fit...gl

He doesn't talk crap. He criticizes. And in case you don't know saying another player played bad even if they are better than me doesn't change the fact that they played bad.

While that may be the case, i've had my opinion of you ruined over time by a series of events that just kinda seem like prick behavior...Critical comments of n0thing and warden during an inferno match in a gotfrag vent party...then when they come in vent for postgame you act like you don't want them to find out what you said. While i really liked the article you recently posted on gotfrag, a lot of valid points were made about the adaption of cs community (the lack of it anyway) i think the complete bashing of shaGuar was not quite needed and was really in bad taste (yes he may be fine with it, i know i wouldn't be, but this is my opinion anyway so now I'M gonna rant ;-)) after reading that article i watched a few EG demos with both him and you on the roster...I actually downloaded the game to see what you were talking about...yes he wasn't a great player for you guys and was way to out there with his play style and played like it was 1.6, the comments were in bad taste and made you seem like a idiot. and this whole rant makes me seem like an idiot...all things aside you have been a pro player, played in the cgs, and had a good career with the possibility of a great one...i think your reputation has been tarnished just a slight bit by some of the comments you make and by who hears these or reads those comments...I was a little out of line when saying you did not deserve to be on a top teir team and i apologize. i do wish you the best of luck with your new team..while i don't have the highest oppinion on you for some things you say and how they are potrayed, I can always have respect for anyone who has played or plays in a top tier league.

GRT is a great guy. He will take the time to help anyone who genuinely needs help. Also, maybe he isn't the best fragger...but he is a natural leader which is extremely valuable to any team he joins. His experience is also unparalleled. I was not paid to say this :)

"His experience is also unparalleled." .. to what? His exp isn't all that good when you are talking about players who have been on his level. Many more outstanding accomplishments from MANY other players. He is a good player but he isn't a game changer like most of the people were from the old EG team. He should do alright but I don't see him single handily putting his team over the top.

I do... It's a good motivating tool, especially if you're playing with someone who is definitely more experienced then they are. Although on the old EG he wasn't a game changer, anyone on the old EG could change the course of a game any day. He is still one of Canada's top players, and probably Canada's best leader. Ultimately what should be most important to them at the moment is to become Canada's best team. Which I think they are at the moment. Only then can they focus on NA as a whole, and possibly internationally. We'll see, but it's a great addition for Blight no matter what.

#19 Thats your opinion and your entitled to it and i have no problem with it. Just so you know about the warden and nothing thing, i assume u refer to the lets say way they were playing during a match and my job in the vent partys is to do exactly what i did and criticize and critique the way the people are playing and what they could have done better to improve for the people watching. So of course its going to sound cocky and like i know everything in the world. On the other hand i am not shy to say that i screw up a million times and its a part of the game and every situation is different. The shaguar bashing wasnt bad in my opinion, i was just stating how he didnt work to improve and i get called the bad guy cause i actually said it while many thought it. The articles im going to be writing are going to have me in bad blood with alot of people but the point of the articles is to at least SAY it while every1 else holds there tongue. I am going to take slack but i am trying to help out the scene in any way i can by pointing out things. No one else will say it so i will. Other then the vent parts i probably have never done anything wrong to any1 in the community. I am one of the few who actually talks to any1 who pm's me and all that sort and i engage the community more then anyone in hopes to build something and have fun. And obviously for the people (you may be one of them) that may not like me cause of the way i sound when i say somethings theres going to be 5 that like it cause at least i am saying it tastefully. I wont call out people in a bad way ever. I asked shag for permission to use him as an example, i wouldnt do anything against anyones will. #17 "His experience is also unparalleled." .. to what? That statement is obviously a lil too far but alot of people dont realize what i have done because i always use retarded alias's at international/major tournys and seen who i have beat etc etc. #18 i was a game changer on EG brotha :D

#21 I was in all of the gotfrag vent parties, and I remember the n0thing one very specifically. There's a big difference between critiquing and insulting. If you'd really like to "better" the community it would be useful to have an experienced player give insight to what the teams/players are doing and why it is good/bad. I don't recall any of that from you. I can't comment on the shag thing, because I don't know your relationship/conversation with him on the personal level that you do. I can say, however, that it didn't come off as anything useful. It was merely "shag couldn't adapt". If you know upcoming articles aren't going to leave people bitter, maybe it would be better to not write them at all. I know I didn't get anything useful out of the shag article, and while you may be doing it for the community, I don't feel like you did a good job explaining or giving insight.

I think it's pretty clear I'm not the only one who has a negative opinion about how grt acts in the vent parties. I'm sure he, as a professional cs player, cares a little bit about how the cs community views him. Hence, why he's taking the time to read and reply. If he didn't care he wouldn't be on here, but he is, and that makes me assume he's taking what fans have to say to heart. Which is, of course, a very good thing.

#22 again me and nothing are good friends and everything i say gets back to him so its not like im stabbing any1 in the back. And you have to remember im there only to give entertainment to the people who listen and whats better then stirring the pot a bit. And that first article was just the intro to what i was going to write about thus it lacked the punch that will be in my next articles where i rant alot more. And when u said "shag couldnt adapt" that was exactly my point so i obviously got that across. The point of the article is alot of people refuse to adapt to change and he simply was one of them and most of the cs community is the same way which i will point out in my next articles i hope. As for the vent partys again some people dont like what i say cause they think im being insulting but i do say that i do this just to make people laugh and most people who lisen enjoy themselves rather then when im not there and no one is talking. I try to spice things up a bit so people have fun. I even stayed on for 3 hours once to answer 500 questions from the guys in the vent party.

#24 i obviously care how i am viewed and not to sound cocky or anything of the sort im viewed very nicely and obviously your going to have haters so its expected. I write back because i involve myself with the community and why not answer/defend myself. I rather talk to guys like you and maybe change your opinion a bit of how you feel about me rather then leave it unattending and sounding like an ahole :)

That's kinda the point, you do sound cocky and it sheds some bad light on you, sure you might be a cool guy, but a lot of people view you (at least alot of the people i know) as a jerk who talks shit and can't perform later. If you cared what people think about you, i'd think you wouldn't act like such a prick in vent parties...i'll say it again (yeah, my old hltv account DAF87 was from a phase when i was thinking of changing my name, this is my real tag, figured i should prolly use my real tag) the article you wrote just made you sound like an ass, and you had valid points, that's what boggles my mind is that you took the worse way possible to get your points across in effort to get a laugh....prolly shoulda just went with the old reliable gay joke...but i digress, the fact that EVERYTIME i hear you speak or see you write, there is always something negative said about another pro player, from n0thing and warden to shag, i've NEVER heard anything but an insult come out of your mouth...either way it's not like this will go anywhere, you are who you are and I am who I am, we will never agree on this topic and that's that...gl with blight.ca (that WAS the point of this article) hopefully the things said made you think a little bit..if not oh well
