Cloud9 to skip DreamHack Atlanta

Cloud9 have decided against attending the upcoming DreamHack Open event in Atlanta, the tournament organiser has confirmed.

The news about Cloud9's withdrawal was first reported by VPEsports, who suggested that the team were weighing up the possibility of skipping the tournament due to internal issues.

The announcement comes just 48 hours after Cloud9 returned from BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen, the first event where Yassine "⁠Subroza⁠" Taoufik was tried out. The North American team finished in last place after picking up just one point in the round-robin stage in a draw with Natus Vincere.

Cloud9 will not attend DreamHack Atlanta

Cloud9, who are currently No.36 in the rankings, do not have any tournaments planned until the end of the year. Their withdrawal leaves the event with just one confirmed US representative, The Quest, who came through the North American qualifier.

DreamHack Open Atlanta will take place from November 15-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center, with $100,000 on offer. With a replacement still to be announced, the team list for the event currently looks as follows:

I feel like Autimatic also fell off quite a bit. I think it's really hard to build an internationally successful team from NA atm. There is only really TL and EG who are super good and then Envy and ATK who are ok and below that is all MDL teams already (I left Complexity out cause no one even knows wtf they are planning).

Dephh lives in NA with a P-1 Athletic Visa so as long as he is contractually tied to any NA team he can reside in NA for the rest of his life. He's also a talented player, but was IGLing for a dying coL for most of the year. Auti has had bad form since C9 went to shit (they had potential with Zellsis imo) but he's slowly been getting better. Wardell is the best AWPer available atm unless they want Auti to AWP. Daps is also the best igl available. Their 5th could literally be anyone, and if I had my way I'd like to see Floppy but i wouldn't leave ATK if i was him, because the roster looks strong.

First of all, Wardell came to us asking to join our team, not the other way around. He flip flopped numerous times while we were in negotiations with CeRq, as well as other potential players we were looking to pick up. He's proven to be untrustworthy and an overall shady individual, so it's no surprise he even did this. He told us that he was verbally released from Ghost and was fully prepared to join our team and play with us. Ghost and Rogue have been in contact this entire time and it was completely understood that he would be transferred to our team. Ghost had no qualms with Wardell's desire to leave their organization, in fact they were already under the assumption that he was gone and joining our team. He practiced with our team for an entire week leading up to the events that just transpired. Wardell then proceeded to bad mouth his former teammates the entire time we were playing and said that the only reason he was even playing with Ghost in the first place was because they essentially needed him to maintain 3/5th rule to keep their spot in the league. I wouldn't even care if he had a change of heart and he gave us ample time to find somebody else, but the fact is he practiced with us last night before our matches and then went completely ghost. Wardell has not spoken to anyone on our team about the situation, except for a couple of brief sentences between him and Hiko. Two hours before our match he told our owner that he would no longer be playing with us and refused to sign his contract. Keep in mind that this is not the first time that Wardell has been under scrutiny for such behavior, so I guess it's shame on us for picking him up on our team knowing all of the stories we have heard behind the scenes.

Daps isn't the problem. Automatic needs to regain form after being an awper for too long. These guys stay. Tenz is in the bench because he needs more time and development. There is nothing coming out of NA in the CS scene. Their version of FPL is a hot mess whereas EU is full of young talent. Hopefully if GenG pick up Auti and Daps they let them look at EU players
