MYM win DreamHack Winter 09

Meet Your Makers have won won their first trophy with a 2-1 success over mTw in the Grand Final of DreamHack 2009.

A lively start from MYM as CT on de_inferno saw them take several key rounds, courtesy of Marcus "Delpan" Larsson and Andreas "moddiii" Fridh, the latter picking up 24 frags as the Swedish team posted a 10-5 result at half time.

In the second half, mTw looked like they had the pistol round under control but a well-planned strategy on bombsite B saw MYM increase their lead, with Larsson fragging three and Marcus "zet" Sundström two. The remaining rounds would stay with MYM as mTw could never apply any pressure on either bombsite, losing the map 16-5.

On de_dust2, MYM, who began as T, attempted a slow entry on B, but mTw put a stop to that, with each player picking up one frag. With Christoffer 'Sunde' Sunde unavailable, mTw were relying on either Martin "trace" Heldt or Danny "zonic" Sørensen for the AWP role, which did not seem to bother them that much as they strolled to a 7-1 lead.

In the ninth round, MYM got back into the game with a surprising eco rush on B, which produced little effect, though, as the Swedes found themselves at an enomours distance of their opponents, being down 11-4.

But MYM got off to a great start as CT, inspired by Jimmy "jumpy" Berndtsson, who won several clutch rounds, and managed to set the score at 15-13, but with two match points at hand, mTw forced the game into overtime, where mTw clinched a 22-19 win.

On de_nuke, mTw began the brighter, winning the first three rounds, before MYM engaged on a seven-round streak that put them well in the lead. But that was as far as they would go as Danish giants picked up the remaining rounds to go into the second half up by one round.

In the second half, MYM were too strong for their opponents, and their consistent CT play saw mTw take just one round as they ran out 16-9 winners to seal a 2-1 victory.
