A new set of POV demos uploaded

It is day two of Arbalet Cup Europe, taking place in Stockholm, and it is time to bring you POV demos from the second day of the tournament.

Groups C and D concluded earlier today and we have now gathered a set of POV demos from the matches played. So far we have uploaded demos from Marcus "Delpan" Larsson, Faruk "pita" Pita, Ioan "Edward" Sukharev, Seon Ho "termi" Pyeon, Min-Soo "glow" Kim, Seungwook "lsw" Lee, Frej "kHRYSTAL" Sjöström, Andreas "moddii" Fridh, Marcus "zet" Sundström and Jimmy "Jumpy" Berndtsson.

More will follow after the All-Star Grand Final has concluded, where we also will be providing you with POV demos. Make sure to note, that you saw them here first, meaning we are the guys that did the work to bring them to you and nobody else.

Has nothing to do with competition, they blatantly break our copyright, but since we cannot afford a lawyer in Germany there is nothing we can do about it, SK and many other sites does the same with regards to pictures, all betting on the fact that we will not sue them I guess.. This of course means we get less hits, meaning we cannot attend as many events, pay as much in salaries as people are worth, buy good equipment and so on, but I guess no one gives a fuck about that, clearly we are just unable to handle the competition right? That is the single bright thing about the day we close our doors here at HLTV.org, that the entire scene will finally learn just how much content WE create and is then stolen and put on other sites, but sadly I guess no one will know before we actually do close.

Just wondering Nomad, aren't there any lawyers that get paid off of percentage of money they win in a law suit when they do win the case? so you don't have to have the money to hire them? In america, there are few lawyers out there that are free of charge until they win a case, and if they do end up losing the case, it ends up being free. I had 2 cases where I had to get those type of lawyers for accidents and stuff. Just curious

No idea, we do not have mega fines here in Europe either, meaning it would probably never go to court really, they'd stop copying our shit and everyone would be happy, but that still requires us to get a lawyer to actually present the threat of a lawsuit, and we'd rather spend our money covering events and making a great website than fighting with what should be our colleagues, that is why I am calling out the sites here so you guys can judge them..

Wouldn't it be worth the money, either you receive money from the lawsuit, or they stop copying your material and you receive money that way? If you'd have worse coverage for a couple of events, sure, I bet 90% of the users here would understand.

Hmm you have to admit that it's a bad thing to be "raped" and to do nothing than watch...Of course they get a LOT more hits, but in my honest opinion, you got to upload all the povs available on the market, including doing the same thing as the germans from the readmore do, stealing. But this is a character thing, if u were teached NOT TO steal, you won't steal. But, if you want to get more clicks, to get equipment and so on, you have to forget about the lessons given by your parents, and start collecting new data. You don't have to say that you are the best in this segment of internet (gaming), but you have to be "bad" to be good. And if you i'd start doing some research about this violation of copyright and win the case right away, this is just my opinion. By the way you are #1 in my opinion, this is the site where i go to find out news about gaming and so on, i really apreciate what you are doing.

I'm not going to give up on my principles for the sake of "winning", then rather close the site. HLTV.org will run with purely HLTV.org content, we will not take other peoples photos without permission, we will not take demos from other sites.. Having a big site or getting rich is not more important than behaving properly.

It would be nice to collect all the demos from the greatest players on the "market" if possible (only if the POV demos are really good), for example i can tell you that i'd like to see demos from fnatic vs D4 (if possible...so you can not take the demos that the players posted on the ESL match page ?) I can understand your vision and opinions about stealing stuff and the copyright thing, this proves that you got a professional team behind hltv.org and also act like it.

Read up on the laws and represent yourself. As far as I know it's perfectly legal and when you are in your right I see no reason why you shouldn't win if it would even come to a court which I highly doubt. Those huge fines do not exist in Germany, that is true but for smaller organizations even a 10k euro fine is somewhat of a bump in the budget.

probably because you don't actually own the copyright to much of the media you distribute, i.e. demos which are still the property of valve :) of course, that just provides more reason to not bring that matter before a court - not only would you be arguing that the other parties are infringing your copyright, you'd have to argue that you OWN the copyright, by getting a ruling that eula's are invalid in your jurisdiction. that might have already been done by someone like sk in the past tho, i guess.

Uh, why would Valve own the copyright to demos? We are the ones creating them, without US using bandwidth and time there'd be no demos of any matches, therefore obviously the copyright is ours.. Saying that Valve owns demos is like saying Canon has the copyright to any pictures taken with their cameras, it makes no sense at all.

The reason I sometimes download POV from readmore is that they actually provide the stats of the pov. That is what makes me wanna go back more. I mean, u dont wanna watch a boring pov...

Actually that's the thing i'm doing for a long period of time. I stopped visiting any site beside hltv nad some domestic ones, 'cause i'm tired of seeing copypasted HLTV.org news @ sk-gaming for example, pictures from hltv.org without mentioning of people who made it etc. They won't get my click :)

Stats on POV demos are available after the stats for the event has been done.

Stats appear on the POV's as soon as we get the logs parsed, but we have a huge backlog with WCG, Dreamhack and now Arbalet too, so it will take a bit..

btw the demos from k1ck vs coldfrag at dreamhack are corrupted too, only D2 is working inferno and nuke has only a few rounds,don´t know if you have other demos or maybe their pov demos. Try fix that, i couldn´t watch their game! tks

MIRAA is more the one telling us what's going on in the CS world, changes and stuff, while the Danes are the ones covering the events, and that's what's going on atm, events.
