Spain to host KODE5 stop

According to Arenazero.net, Spain will once again stage a qualifier for KODE5.

Earlier this year, Spain hosted one of KODE5's regional qualifiers, which was won by mTw after the Danish team came from the Lower Bracket to defeat DTS.chatrix on two maps.

Reports in Spain indicate that KODE5 Spain will be held from January 9-10 at the LEVEL UP internet cafe in Zaragoza, the exact same location of the previous qualifier. However, unlike what it happened in April, this tournament will be open to Spanish teams only.

HLTV.org understands that LEVEL UP is currently in talks with KODE5 to organise a second qualifier later in 2010, which is expected to have foreign teams.

The 2009-10 KODE5 season looks so far as follows:

Norway KODE5 Norway - Norway LatterligLett
Spain KODE5 Spain - January 9-10
France
KODE5 France - ??
Other KODE5 Latin America - May 20-23

Stay tuned to HLTV.org for complete coverage of the qualifier and the entire KODE5 season.

Pretty much expected that there would be a Spanish only event, if any, in order to be able to send a Spanish team and not see foreign teams take the "local" spot. Action starts early next year though and I wonder in what "condition" teams (max 16) will attend (New Year celebration still close, you know ;)). As for the potential 2nd event later next year I think it can be seen as what happened the last time, that is, open to those foreign teams that do not just want to just focus on their local qualifier or was not successful attending it. If you plan to attend MIRAA, dress warmly!! ;D

Also remember not all countries have a qualifier. As i remember Denmark didn't have on last year... Correct me if i'm wrong.

Yeah, obviously that is also a valid third reason to pop up with a new qualifier. As far as for the Danish qualifier it seems there one last time/this year (and it was won by mouz): www.hltv.org/?pageid=35&newsid=2344

I think it's bad that one qualifier will be open for Spanish teams only, if foreign teams go to foreign qualifiers we'd just get an as good event as possible.
